R. L. George came in Friday to
visit his non. Kenneth George, and
will be in and out of here for the
rest of this month. He will then
go back to Florida, and his wife
will join him there from their
home at Hendersonville, N. C. Mr.
George says he is getting the fever
to make a trip to Europe. His
wife has been over that ground
and would go along to renew her
acquaintances. R. L. says he has
been helping build 900 feet of
rock fence at their place, and can
show the corns on nis hands to
prove it. He and his wife have
a b./; house at Hendersonville, 2
miles out of town, and they fcave
a good many friends to visit them,
especially In summer time.
Representative Clyde Whiteside
was in Wichita Falls yesterday to
attend a special meeting of the
Lions Club there. The guest
speaker was Congressman Ed Gos-
sett from Washington, D. C. Mr.
Whiteside said our congressman
came very near being on the ill-
fated plane which crashed at Love
Field Monday morning. He had
contemplated taking thatplane. but
was delayed and came on a later
one. Of course. Ed could have
been among the survivors, but all
the same, everybody here is glad
he did not take part in the crash.
Mrs. Chloe Shawver, Mrs. Lin-
coln Burns and Mrs Claude Dau-
gherty have gone on a trip to Fort
Worth today.
Tirey Harrison made another of
his visits back home Tuesday.
Tirey works in Wichita Falls and
lives in Olney; and his Sundays
come on Tuesday.

SEYMOUR CEMETERIES: — I
have to work for a living the same
as you, yet I contribute a lot of
my time toward overseeing the
work at the Cemeteries. I also
pay dues the same as you. It would
be a great help to me if you would
mail your check promptly instead
of forcing me to send you several
statements. You own the lots per-
sonally and those buried on them
are members of your family — I
know it is just carelessness on your
part but when it is all added to-
gether it makes a lot of unneces-
sary work for me. Your attention
to this matter will be greatly ap-
preciated. Gene Culver, Secretary.

, SOCIAL SECURITY MAN
|TO BE HERE DECEMBER 8
| Many retired workers fail to
* claim social security retirement
payments because they feel they
are asking something for nothing, (
i Erton F. Tate, manager of the i
! Wichita Falls Social Security Of- |
| fice has revealed.
| Mr. Tate said this attitude is !
j commendable, but it reflects a
j complete misunderstandin of the
insurance principle on which so-
cial insurance is built.
! "Social security payments are
| made to millionaires and paupers
I alike," he said. "We never ask a
■ man what he needs. We ask him
) how much he has worked.”
i "Right to payments is an earned
, right—earned by the worker's con-
| ncction with the economic system
I to which he contributed his labor,”
J Tate declared.
I For filing of claims for benefits
I or information relatives to social
security, see Erton F. Tate, man-
ager of the Wichita Falls office,
who will be in Seymour, Thurs-
day, December 8. 1949 at 10:00
a.m. at the Chamber of Commerce.
