A group of local Boy Scouts plan
to leave this week end for a week
In the Scout Camp of the Northwest
Texas Area Council. Thlc Camp Is
located in the Wichita Mountains of
Southern Oklahoma. This is the
fifth and final week of the Camp,
and various groups from the four-
teen counties of the Council will be
present during this period.
Any local Scout In good standing
is eligible to accompany the group,
and anyone so desiring should con-
tact B, L. Nrathery, district camping
chairman, and Immediately make ar-
rangements for the trip.
kit and whatever other personal sup-
plies he muy desire. The camp this
year Is the best It has ever been, and
the Scouts who are attending are
having an enjoyable time, as well as
an outing and instruction in princi-
ples and arts of Scouting. Any vis-
itors are welcome, and many par-
ents are taking their sons to camp
and then returning for them at the
close of the period.
It may be said that all these camp-
ing advantages cannot be cared for
entirely by the $0 expense charged,
but whatever else is lacking Is made
up from the budget of the Area
Council.
Comp Boulder is operated annually i Recent research has shown that the

under a registered dietician, neces-
sary tents and equipment are supplied,
together with counsellors, and at-

tor and everything that Is needed.
Each Scout provides his own bed-

countered during the season. Pro-
tection against the excessive summer
heat, especially iri the form of floor

in the form of larger eggs. County

Lowry For Clerk
Attention Is called to the announce-
ment of Will J. Lowry for the office
rf county and district clerk. Mr,
Lowry Is well known around here,
being the only survivor of on original
family of the parents and five child-
ren, who came to Seymour at an
early date.
The candldntc comes before you
with ample qualifications, and with
tin earnest desire to make good In
the office he seeks. Mr. Lowry has
served his community In many Im-
portant ways, one of them being us
a member of the town band and or-
chestra for many years. He has In
tills way given freely of his time
nod talents for the community wol*
tun*, Mr. Lowry's own statement Is
given ns follows:
To the Voters of Baylor County:
As a candidate for the office of
County and District Clerk, I want to
say In the beginning that I thank
again all of those who supported me
i|i my successful race fdr public
weigher; and I want to thank all of
you who are helping me In any way
In my present campaign.
I also want to commend all of my
opponents in this race.* They are ul' <
my friends, and I will have no wore
of criticism for any of them In tills
campaign But I hope the voters
will see fit to cast a majority of the
ballots in my favor, and if you do,
then I will give you no cause for
regrets.
My experience has been such as
to qualify me to carry on the affairs
of this office in a capable way. I
have had several years experience as
a bookkeeper In grocery and grain j
stores and In a wholesale house. 1
came to Baylor county 50 years ago,
attending the local schools and then
following several lines of business in
the town. I know most people of
the county personally, and If elected
I promise you that I will be at my
post of duty and will render you
the most capable service, and will
meet you wJth courtesy and take
care of your needs. I will be fair
and Impartial to all. I will employ
all needed help, and It will be the
kind of help thut will get the Job
done.
t
After living in this countv nrac-
tically all of mv life. It would be a
great pleasure to me if I could serve
in this particular way the people
whom 1 have known and liked for so
long. My family consists of my wife
and four children. My boy Is In the
United States army, located in Pana-
ma My oldest girl is married and
lives in San Angelo. The other two
girls are at home, and my highest
ambition Is to give them educational
advantages. The office of clerk
would be a stepping stone to some
of my ambitions, but I do not want
you to give me the office as a per-
sonal favor, unless at the same time
you should feel that 1 am fully cap-
able of handling Its affairs,
I have no car, and am not finan-
cially able to quit my work and
make an active campaign for this
office. But I'm going to try and see
as many of you as possible, but hope
you will give me your best consider-
ation, whether I am able to see yOu
or not. No man can be elected to
any office without the help of his
friends, and I greatly hope that my
friends will give me their best help
in this race. I will appreciate highly
every word you say in my behalf
and every kindly deed you do, and
will never forget It as long as I live.
If I am elected, I will give my
friends the credit: and if I should
be defeated, then I will blame no one
but myself.
Your Friend, Will Lowry.
