HIGHLAND ELEMENTARY—Top money earned for the MS Read-A-Thon,
sponsored by Omicron Study Club, was Crissi Brooks. Top reader was Delaney
Russell.
4-H'ers Win In Rifle And Decision
Making Contests
Ten Swisher County 4-H'ers partici-
pated in the 1988 South Plains District
Rifle and Decision Making contests in
Lubbock Saturday.
In the Junior Rifle competition
Hadley Harris, Chad Mote, Todd Hen-
drix, Josh Todd and Amanda Harman
shot for Swisher County. This team was
second in the prone position; second in
the kneeling position and they finished
fourth in the contest.
Senior 4-H'ers who shot were Colby
Crawford, Wendy Aldridge, and Bob
Gales. This team also finished 4th in
competition. A special thanks to Cathey
Jo Harman, Harvey Hendrix and Rod-
ney Harris who helped to get these 4-
H'crs to Lubbock. The South Plains
district is made up of 20 counties.
To continue the shooting sports proj-
ect, we will offer some archery training
that will be announced when equipment
has been secured. If you arc interested
call the Extcnson office at 995-3726.
Two Junior Two 4-H'ers Dusty
Newton and Lane Dyer competed in the
Decision Making Contest. They judged
eight consumer classes and then gave
oral reasons for their placings on two of
the classes.
Also attending and serving as an
Adult Leader for the contest was Connie
Newton, Dusty's mother.

Mr. and Mrs. Rickey Casarez of Tulia
announce the birth of a son, Nizveh,
bom at 10:10a.m. April 8,1988, weigh-
ing 9 lbs. 7 ozs. Grandparents are J uanita
Marcno, and Refugio and Francisco
Castillo of Tulia. Daniel Dc La Rosa is
the great-grandfather.
May 2, MONDAY: Breakfast—
Scrambled eggs in pita pocket, milk,
raisins.
Lunch—Hot dogs/chili or comdogs,
vegetarian beans, potato chips, cabbage
slaw, milk, bowl of fruit.
May 3, TUESDAY: Breakfast—
Pizza muffin, milk, pink applesauce.
Lunch—Spaghetti/meat sauce or
burritoes, buttered com, lettuce & to-
mato salad, garlic bread, milk, apple-
sauce cake.
May 4, WEDNESDAY: Breakfast—
Cheese toast, milk, juice.
Lunch—Pizza or fish on kitchen
made buns, tossed salad, fried okra.
