The Tulia Hornets are still without
a loss going into the Christmas break.
The Hornets beat Kress 64-46 and
Littlefield 51-33 last week to have a
14-0 record.
Coach Tommy Miller said the
Hornets were ready for a little break.
"Since Thanksgiving we have
played 11 games and had final ex-
ams, and I think we need the break to
get our legs back and get our mental
sharpness back," Miller said.
The Hornets resume play again on
Dec. 30 and Dec. 31 at die Litdefield
tournament which will be a final
tune-up for the first district game
Saturday, Jan. 3, against Perryton.
The Hornets had a good game
against the good Kress team lastTucs-
day at Kress.
"I felt we executed our half court
offense the best we have all year,"
Miller said. "Kress played really well
the first quarter and we had a tough
job separating from them. In the sec-
ond and third quarters we were able
to spread our lead by gradually pull-
ing away.
"Defensively, we used a new ad-
justment out of our zone and it looked
good. I think it is something that can
really help us in the future. Kress is a
good team and I expect to see them
make a run for the playoffs."
Miller said that the Littlefield game
was very tough and physical.
"Littlefield has some very athletic
players and they put a lot of defen si ve
pressure on you. They force you to
get out of control sometimes because
you are not use to seeing that type of
pressure defense. It was a good game
for us because our guards learned
they could handle the pressure. We
were able to hold Littlefield to 10
points in the second half and that
enabled us to pull away," Miller said.
