Show Shopping Tips!
You ’ll find everything but the kitchen sink...
Oh wait, we have that too!
The Houston Home Show August 17-19th
at the George R. Brown Convention Center.
By Jolanta Mazewski-Dryden, Texas Home and Garden Show Series
Don’t miss the first show of the
season! The 26th annual Houston
Home Show is just around the comer.
This year’s event is incredibly dynamic
and interactive with over 350 exhibits,
products and services to see, touch and
experience as well as interactive
seminars and how-to demonstrations to
attend.
What an overwhelming
shopping opportunity! The Houston
Home Show can be daunting. Hundreds
of exhibits. Thousands of
ideas, products and services with so
many areas to cover - wow! We want
to make this experience of shopping
lots of fun and one that will answer all
those burning home improvement
questions. Here are some handy tips for
making the most of your experience at
the Houston Home Show.
Ask the Questions. Have an idea of
what products you need for your home
or what improvement projects you
want to make. Determine what types
of information you would like to take
home from the show. Make a wish list
with at least 3 to 5 questions, nagging
problems or deepest desires and
organize your visit around those
objectives. The show features
Houston’s top home improvement
experts so don’t be shy, take advantage
of the opportunity - make sure that you
talk to them all! Learn the latest in
technology from Michael Garfield, The
High-Tech Texan and get your home
organized with Julie Hibbs of Squared
Away. Catch Laura Dellutri, The
Healthy Housekeeper on stage and
learn summer survival tips for your
home! Randy Lemmon “Gets Green”
and you can too! Ask questions and get
answers from Randy, KTRH’s
GardenLine expert!
Bring floor plans, swatches, color
samples, dimensions, photographs or
room measurements. This will help
you in they buying process and help
exhibitors make estimates and
bids. Efficiency!
discounts, they are usually only offered
at the show.
And finally the last few basics tips:
Set aside enough time so that you can
accomplish your goals and see the full
show and don’t forget to wear
comfortable shoes! Allow yourself
enough time to see as many of the
seminars and demos as possible.
Most of All have fun ! This is a day
out, entertainment for you and the
significant other or the entire
family. This is an interactive show so
we invite you to visit and enjoy the
day!
Features of the show include Home
Building, Home Improvement, Pools &
Spas, Home Decor, Live Auction for
Antiques & More! Catch Paul
Wishnow, The Antique Man on
Opinion Days. Is it “trash or treasure?”
Bring your antique or collectible and
for a small donation, the Antique Man
will appraise it for you!
Support YMCA’s Operation Back
Pack and help thousands of kids go
back to school! The Houston Home
Show will serve as a collection site
for school supplies & backpacks.
Bring items to help a child go back to
school and get a $l-off your general
admission ticket to the show! Items
that are being requested are: Brand
new backpack for any age, packages of
pencils, crayons, colored pencils,
markers, ballpoint pens, looseleaf
paper, construction paper, bottle of
white glue or glue stick, scissors,
highlighters, spiral notebooks, folders
& lunchboxes.
For additional guidance for shopping at
the Houston Home Show, visit
HoustonHomeShow.com or call 713-
529-1616. Discount coupons will be
available online and at your local
Randalls grocery stores.
If it belongs in the home, it’s at the
Houston Home Show!
Mark Your Territory. Use the show
guide and plan your strategy! Look
for the specific companies or show
features that might reveal solutions for
the items on your wish list and mark
the names, booth numbers or
appearance times.
Take What You Need and Leave the
Rest. Collect only the brochures that
you are interested in and place them
inside your carry-all bag. Additionally,
