MISCONCEPTION
(Continued from page 1)
the law of Christ. In many ways
they conflict, and if you are try-
ing to keep the law and stumble In
one point James says you are
become guilty of all. James 2:10.
Let us be realistic and accept
the words of the New Covenant
which has come from Jesus Christ
through the Holy Spirit. There
was no forgiveness of sins under
the Old Law but there is under the
law of Christ for those who will
believe In him and keep his com-
mandments. Jesus said, "If ye
love me you will keep my com-
mandments.” Jno. 14:16 John also
said, “He that saith, I know him,
and keepeth not his command-
ments, is a liar and the truth is
not in him; but whoso keepeth his
word in him verily hath the love
God been perfected." l JNO. 2:4-5
The plain truth of the matter
la that the Old testament is valu-
able to us as a history of God’s
dealing with mankind under the
former dispensations but is not
binding on any living person to-
day, be he Jew or Gentile.
No not even the Ten Command-
ments. It is quite true that many
of the principles of the Old Testa-
ment have been incorporated in
the New Testament and are bind-
ing on us because they are in the
New and not because they were
once commanded in the old. The
Old testament was given to ano-
ther people for another time, and
under other conditions, and has
been fulfilled and taken out of the
way that the Law of Christ might
become the light that leads to et-
ernal joy and happiness in the
world to come.
"This is my beloved Son, in
whom I am well pleased, hear ye
him.’’
“This is the end of the matter;
ajl hath been heard: fear God, and
keep his commandments; for this
is the whole duty of man.” ECCL.
12:13.
