iel Boone’s famous long rifle is
still in'working order.
It was fired Feb. 2, 1962, at
the opening of a travel Informat-
ion center on an interstate high-
way.
Boone died in 1820. His rifle is
part of the Kentucky Historical
Society exhibits.

native of Tennessee. Her mother;
died when she was eleven years ot
age and soon thereafter Mr.

the Dial community where the
future Mrs. Hall grew to woman-
hood.
Mr. Hall’s parents were the late
Mr. and Mrs. M. S. Hall. He-Vs a
native and lifelong resident of the

March 5-9. Theme for week, “Help

King” for The Glory Of Thy Name,
was given by the night circle lea-
der, Mrs. Clarence Felts. Meditat-
ion scripture, Mrs. Henry Wood
and Mrs. Homer Rhodes, prayer
Mrs. T. J. Watts. Special song,
"O Zion Haste”. Mrs. Homer Rho-
des, Mrs. Charlie Eaton, Mrs. D.

prayer she was assisted by Miss

WSCS Meetinq Held
Monday, March 12th
The Woman’s Society of Christ-
ian Service met Monday, March
12 at 3 p. m., in the educational
building of the Methodist Church.
There were fourteen members pre-
sent.
The meeting was called to order
by the president, Mrs. D. R. Dod-
son. The hymn “My Faith Looks
Up To The#”, was sung with Mrs.
A. W. Caffee at the piano.
The minutes of the previous
meeting were read and approved.
Mrs. George Luttrell was ele-
cted to serve as a delegate to the
W. S. C. S. conference which will
be held in Highland Park Metho-
dist Church. Mrs. D. R. Dodson
was elected to serve as alternate.
Mrs. D R. Dodson, program lea-
der conducted the March Circle
Program. She was assisted by
Mrs. A. W. Caffee and Mrs. J. R.
Dawson.
The group was dismissed with
the motto.

visitors attended the March meet-
ing of the Presbyterian Business
Women’s Circle held in the home
of Mrs. Dan Baker Monday night.
Mrs. J. L. Carley presided and
led the opening prayer.
The prayer for missionaries was
led by Mrs; Martha Stroup.
Mrs. Jack Meade reported hav-
ing sent this circle’s quota of
twelve skirts and twelve blouses
to the National Missions station at
Leupp, Arizona; and Mrs. Martin
Ohr Jr., reported that members
had paid their assesment of fifty
cents each, to be sent to Trinity
Presbytery.
Mrs. Ohr read the first part of
the new mission study, "Churches
for New Times,” by C. Richard
Brown, and conducted a quiz pro-
gram concerning our purpose in
meeting the challenges of chang-
ing customs, in homes and church-,
es.
A review of several chapters
from the book, “Edge of the Edge”
by Theodore E. Matson was pre-
sented by Mrs. C. S. Young, a
guest. She cited the need for united
dedication among all church deno-
minations in order to regain the
spiritual element in our personal
work, which is apparently lacking,
at the present time u
