Farrar told EDC members
that she had applied to the Smar.

shop.
The Grahams have been in the

With Small Town Personal Service
ended by Barr.- Sims, the council
approved a I" 300 business expan-
sion grant for Slims Saddle Shop
to be dispersed ever a course of 4-6
months. Dowr0 Johnston ab-
stained from voting.
In her monthly report, Farrar
provided an update on plans for an
assisted living center here, and
apprised the council of interest in
construction of a new motel in this
community.
The director also briefly sum-
marized her research into a busi-
ness prospect forwarded to her by
Robert Ezzeli. The owner of a bat-
ter.- recycling business expressed
an interest in relocating to Cana-
dian Farrar told the council that
in less than ten minutes, an In-
ternet search had turned up evi-
dence that in the last 5 years the
business had experienced two
chemical fires necessitating
evacuations in the surrounding
area, and that the owners had
taken over the assets of the pre-
vious bankrupted corporation
eighteen months ago.
“I will get more information if
directed to do so,” she told the
council. There was no response.
Farrar reported on a meeting
of the Central North American
Trade Corridor group which she
attended. The group's focus has
shifted, she said, from turning
Highway S3 into a high-traffic in-
dustrial highway to promoting it
as a “kinder, gentler way to see
America”
"I m excited about Canadian
being involved in that," she said.
The council discussed the pos-
sibility of purchasing business
real estate which is on the market,
but agreed to consider the matter
further at the next meeting.
Those present in addition to
Mrs. Farrar were Assistant Jes-
sica Jines, council members
Gibann Dickens, Donnie
Johnston, John Ramp, George
Briant, Jim Bill Anderson, Craig
Caudle and Barry Sims, and Re-
cord editor Laurie Brown.
