mer pastor of the First Metho-
dist Church of Houston, will be

services at Get'hsemane Metho-
dist Church. 6856 Bellaire Blvd.,
Sept. 6th-10th. Walter Jenkins
will direct the music for these
services.
Dr. Chappell will preach at
8:30 and 11 a.m., Sunday. Sept.
6, with the evening service to
begin at 7 p.m. On Monday
through Thursday, the services
will begin at 7:30 p.m.
Dr. Chappell and Walter Jen-
kins began their association in
1923 in Memphis, Tenn. In 1930
both moved to The First Metho-
dist Church in Houston, where
Dr. Chappell pastored for two
years before moving to Bir-
mingham, Alabama. Mr. Jenkins
stayed as minister of music for
Sufan ^ years.

Family Program For Fall
The Southwest Y.M.C.A., 4210
Bellaire Blvd., announces a full
fall program for men, women
and boys.
Beginning Tuesday, September
8, a full program for boys ages
7 to 17 will begin, to include

Hold Clinic
The Houston City Council No.
26. Texas Branch of National
Congress of Parents and Teach-
ers announce the back-to-school
responsibilities for the local
units.
There will be a clinic for the
local unit presidents wherein
each council officer will give
information pertinent to her of-
fice. It will be held Thursday,
Sept. 3 at 10 a.m. in the small
auditorium of the San Jacinto
High School, 1300 Holman. The
council officers urge all unit
presidents to attend this meet-
ing.
The first executive committee
meeting of the organization will
be held at the Pine Forest
Country Club. North Shepherd
at 10 a.m., Friday. Sept. 4.
football fundamentals, gymnas-
tics and swimming.
Also beginning Tuesday, Sep-
tember 8, will be a complete
fitness program for women. In-
cluded in this program will be
steam bath, massage, swimming
and exercise classes.
The newest feature of the
men’s program is a “Run For
Your Life” program .This class
meets Monday, Wednesday &
Friday at 5:30 p.m.
Also offered for men and wo-
men is a Conversational Spanish
class, both beginners and inter-
mediate will be offered on Tues-
day evennigs.
