that he is married in the near

We spent last week traveling
over the country in the interest
ol the Carbon News with reason-
able success, for which we are
very grateful to everyone who
assisted us in any way.
Among the items of interest
that we noted in our travels was
that the conditions of the coun-
try is some better than was ex-
pected with regard to the cotton
crop. We saw some parts of
crops that promises to make
right at 1,000 lbs. per acre.

The citizens of Ciaco met in
mass meeting in the City Hall
last Thursday evening for the
purpose of conferring with a
committee of citizens from Santa
Anna, with the result that Cisco
and Santa Anna will each raise
a $100,000 bonus and organize
a'$50,000 construction company
for the purpose of making a sur-
vey, securing right-of-way and
take option on townsite3. A
surveying corps will be put in
the field at once.
An eastern capitalist was in
conference with citizens here
then. This gentleman owns
large tracts of land in Shackle-
ford and Stephens counties, re-
presents about $30,000,000 cap-
J ital and is vitally interested in
the building of this road. The
road will run on an air line from
Cisco to Santa Anna and from
there to Spofford Junction. —€is-
