THE BELLAIRE TEXAN
Righteous Brothers
Signed By Trade Fair
The sensational Righteous Bro-
thers singing duo, the current rage
of the ABC-TV’s “Shind’g” pro-
gram, has been signed by the
Houston international Trade and
Travel Fair for six performances
at the Music Hall, Friday, Satur-
day and Sunday, Sept. 17-18-19,
it was announced today by Jack
Hooper, Fair president.
“We are fortunate to be able
to bring this top talent toHouston-
for the Fair,’’ Mr. Hooper said,
“and we feel that the show will
contain a broad range of enter-
tainment for people in all walks
of life.’’
The Righteous Brothers’ latest
recording, “Unchained Melody”,
continue to climb Variety Mag-
azines’ hit tune list on its way
to the top ten. Their well known,
current albums are, “The Righ-
teous Brothers Right Now,” “Some
Blue Eyed Soul" and “You’veLost
That Lovin’ Feelin’ ”.
Although the Righteous Brothers
music is directed primarily to
the teen-age public, the team does
not confine its performances to
this group. However, their sound
is definitely the sound of youth.
The Righteous Brothers are a pro-
duct of the times, a part of the
revolution of music in the United
States and abroad. Their’s is a
style for which no name has yet
been coined, but the music they
sing is American music. It is a
combination of jazz, gospel, rhy-
thm and blues, rock ’n roll and
spiritual.
Part of the Righteous Brothers’
popularity is due to their frequent
television appearances. In addi-
tion to “Shindig”, they have ap-
peared on Dick Clark’s “Ameri-
can Bandstand”, “The Lloyd Thax-
ton Show,” two BBC specials(Lon-
don) and “Teen Topics”. They have
also been in two movies “A Swing-
in’ Time” and “Beach Ball”.

According to Mr. Hopper, ad-
vance tickets will go on sale with-
in two weeks at $3 each includ-
ing admission to the Fair to be
held at the new Sam Houston Col-
iseum Sept. 17-26. This marks the
first time that the Coliseum and
Music Hall have been used simul-
taneoulsy for Fair activities.
