re-election to council next sum-
mer.
“I had considered resigning as
I will be commuting between
here and Arkansas quite a bit
between now and the time when
we move but: decided against it
as I will be here most of the time
to attend council meetings,” he
said.
Mr. Dawson said the Arkansas
agreement marks the first time
that U-Tote’m has granted a
franchise lor operation over an
entire state. He said the 13-year-
olcl chain grocery concern now
has some 67 stores in the Hou-

Purple Sagers
Set Annual
Yule Party
The Purple Sage Garden Club
of Bellaire will hold its annual
Christmas party this year in the
home of Mrs. G. H. Dahlberg,
8111 Wateka, at 9:45 a.m. on
Dec. 9.
With the theme “Christmas
Fantasy” as background, each
member is to construct a flower
arrangement to be presented to
the Children’s Ward at the M. D.
Anderson Tumor Research Hos-
pital. Instead of merely exchang-
ing gifts with each other, the
members will bring suitable
gifts to be given to four children
who were recently left mother-
less. As these four children con-
sist of two sets of twins, one
pair only six weeks old, the
other set only four years old, the
members are quite enthusiastic
over the fun of selecting presents
for these children.
Mrs. John Lassig, club project j
chairman, and Mrs. Albert Bar- 1
tay, garden club member and a
volunteer worker at M. D. An-
derson, will be in charge of
presenting the arrangements to
the hospital, and Mrs. R. P.
Goodman and Mrs. J. II. Mevis
will see that the Christmas
Twins’ get a nice visit from
Santa Claus.
Mrs. Howard Moore will assist
Mrs. Dahlberg as co-hostess for
the coffee that will precede the
meeting.

The version of the Christmas
story which the Children’s Choirs
will portray in song and play
form has been written by the
choir members themselves.
The entire play, “O Come And
See,” was written by the chil-
dren as they talked about the
Christmas story as though they
had been present at the time.
Songs for the service—both
words and music—have been
written by the children during
their choir rehearsals under the
guidance of Mrs. Lloyd Snow
assisted by Mrs. Jane Nicholson.
