all facilities for preparing broiler
burgers plus dining room for
more than 100 customers. The
concern also does a take-out
business.
Plenty of parking facilities are
offered. Customers may park in
front or in the rear, entering the
rear lot from Cedar Street.
The menu features hamburg-
ers broiled over real charcoal,
french fries, coleslaw, baked
beans, potato salad, milk shakes,
sundaes and cold drinks.
A humorous feature of the
new Brittain’s are the “brands”
found on the horses and cattle in
the big mural along one wall.
One brand is (he “3R-” belong-
ing to Bellaireite R. R. (Pop)
Reamer, who registered the
brand in 1903 wl?en he ran cattle
in the area. Another brand is the
“BBB” belonging to Mr. Brittain*
Mr. Reamer is owner of the
property; Roger Converse of
Bellaire is the architect who de-
signed the building while Spaw-
Glass was the building contrac-
tor.
Mr. Brittain, a native born
Texan (Bosque County) who
came to Houston in 1945 and en-
tered the drug store and cafe
business, built his first “Brit-
tain’s Broiler Burger” in 1950.
“I’d had the idea of selling ham-
burgers broiled over real char-
coal, just like you do in your
own back yard, for some time,’
Mr. Brittain said. “I decided to
put the idea into operation.”
The first place was on Tele-
phone Rd. at Dumble, the second
was located at Westheimer at
Greenbriar
The Brittain’s have two boys,

“Mexican Shelter Carol" arrang-
ed by Gaul, sung by the girls of
the Youth Choir and the Adult
Choir; “Carol of the Reindeer,”
by Lee, sung by the Junior Choir,
and “Good Christian Men Re-
joice,” a German carol, sung by
the choirs and the congregation.
The combined choirs of First
Baptist Church of Bellaire will
present the Christmas story in
song at a 7:30 p.m. service Sun-
day. Each choir is originating its
own segment of the program,
according to Minister of Music
Paul McMillan.
The Celestial Choir composed
of four and five-year-olds is
directed by Mrs. Paul Miles, the
Cherub Choir, six, seven and
eight-year-olds by Mrs. Leslie
Carnes, the Carol Choir, 9
through 12-year-olds, Mrs. Louis
McDonald, and the Concord
Choir, the young people, di-
rected by Mr. McMillan.
At Pilgrim Lutheran Church
members of the Adult Choir and
Children’s Choir will present a
vesper service at 7:30 p.m. Sun-
day.
Adult Choir presentations
will include “Prayer to Jesus,”
“Shepherd’s Awake,’ “A Joyous
Christmas Song,’ “Carol of the
Shepherds,” “Marys Lullaby,’
and “What Child is This?’
The Childrens Choir will sing
a number of carols Including
“Away In A Manger,” and “Oh,
Christmas Tree.”
Choir Director Fred Brauer
will give two violin solos, “Jesu
Bambino’ and “He Shall Feed
His Flock.”
The adult choir of St. Martin’s
Ev. Lutheran Church in Sharps-
town, under the direction of
Mrs. William Audas, 7409 Dun-
lap, will present its annual pro-
gram of sacred Christmas music
this Sunday, at 7:30 p.m. in the
church’s House Chapel, 8602 Bel-
laire Boulevard. Mrs. Paul
Bechter, 5305 Val Verde, will
accompany the choir on the or-
gan.
The Rev. Manfred Hoick, Jr.,
minister of the congregation, will
conduct the evening worship
service in conjunction with the
choir program.
Nursery facilities will be pro-
vided. The public is invited.
The choir will sing: “And the
Glory of the Lord" from “The
Messiah”, Handel; “Vom Himmel
Hoch’, Luther; “Break Forth. O
Beauteous Heavenly Light”,
Bach: “To Us is Born a Little
Child”, Trad. German XV Cen-

“Judas Maccabeus’, Handel; “Lo,

“My Sheep Were Grazing’, Ger-
man XVII Century; “Ring,
Christmas Bells”. Lcontovich;
“Today There is Ringing”, Chris-
tiansen; “How Brightly Beams

the front office by a dispatcher.
While the customer waits, his
car is routed to the proper me-
chanic station, and the customer
is given an estimate on the work.
Service is further facilitated
by a “mechanic dispatch ” inter-
com system, in which dispatch-
ers are in direct communication
with individual mechanics at
individual stations.
