There will be a grudge gleam
in the eyes of the Glenn McCar-
thy Shamrocks Saturday and
Sunday, when they face the
Golden Age Bottlers in the fi-
nals of the Saturday Division of
Houston amateur baseball play.
Manager Johnny Cleboski's
Irishmen and Carl Harm’s Bot-
tlers will play a two-of-three
series over the week end to de-
termine a Saturday winner,
which will in turn meet the
Sunday champion for the City
championship and the right to
enter the state playoffs.
The Shamrocks, winners of
the coveted City amateur pen-
imons ngleh'metal * bedsteadHwith! nant in 1948, were well on their
and mattress JU-4096. ------| way to repeating last year, when
the Golden Agers, then under
the banner of Heights Bulldogs,
stopped the McCarthy boys cold
in the playoffs.
Manager Cleboski says his
team is anxious to even the
score, and claims the boys are
all confident of a Saturday
championship.

may be pending the Saturday
result. Art, by the way, won
both the Sunday games over
Empire Broom last week to ad-
vance his mates into the Satur-
day finals.
Concerning his team’s hitting,
Cleboski commented: “We al-
ways develop a hate for that
baseball when the pressure's
on and we practically tore the
leather off it last week against
Empire Broom. If we continue
hitting at that clip, they’ll have
a hard time stopping us.”
The two teams will play at
St. Thomas No. 1 Saturday,
starting at 3 p.m., and at Montie

at 1:30 p.m.
