Please send me yonr
paper and I will send the money the
first opportunity. I fought you last
year, but have become comvinced that
you was right and I was wrong. I
am now with you to the end, be it
bitter or sweet.
The above is a sample of letters
that are constantly growing thicker.
Let them come. We welcome every
hoDest man who, seeing bis mistake,
has the manhood to correct it. They
will make the best soldiers we have in
the fight
“Talk about beard times, you don't
know what liariUtimes mean, e'c.”—
Judge Lialnfool, in Ins speech at Liu-
deu.July 2I*t.
What menu* so many banka olosing
their doors? What means the recent
and continued failure of so mant hun-
flred business men? Wbv are mer-

! toners? Wluit keeps their customers
from buying whs' they need, when it
is h> re in sell, cheaper than ever be-
fore. Why is it that saw mills aud
other pnnlic euterpi ises of the coun-
try are all shutting down and throwing
llieir employes out of work? Why is
it that these same men are tramping
over the country hy the score hunting
for a job and can't find it ? Finally,
wiiat means the special call, by Grover
Cleveland, for Congress to meet the
7th of August. A truthful answer to
the above questions will either prove
tnnt Judge Lightfoot is a fool or else
be thinks his bearers are fools.—

An English authority estimates the
interest from money loaned and prof-
its from iuvestmeuts of English capi-
tal in United States last year at 8727,-
000,000, or more than $60 for every
vo,e east at our last general election,
and moch mote than is received in the
same way from all British colonies
combined. Are we not truly a British
dependency.
One can scarcely mix with the peo-
ple anywhere without meeting with
evideucies of revolt from the old par-
ties. This is encouraging, but not
surprising. In fact tbe deceit and
treachery of tbe leaders is so plain
it would be surprising if it was other,
wise. Tbe eyes of tbe people are be-
ing opened and scores of men who
have honestly voted the demoorat
ticket all their lives have torn the col-

It has been charged that the ruling
power ol ibis country—the money
lords—are monarchical in their ideas.
Here is another evidence ol its truth.
W. W. Astor, a full blood American,
lias purchased the Pal Mai Gazette,
London, and made it an organ for
royalty. This proves that his senti-
ments run In that line. But all tbe
millionaires and would be millionaire
snobbs of America are like him.
There is a cause for it. Tbe owning
and controlling of such vast wealth
makes them feel above their fellows.
There is still a good ring] of the spirit
of equality here, so that tbe poorest
man still feels that be is equal in
some respects to the richest. These
rich arristocrats can’t live in ibis
country without constantly coming in
contact with this spirit of equality,
and they hate it. Hense they spend
most of their time in Europe, flunkey-
ing around kingly courts, and being
toadied to by prinolings and duke-
lings in need of cash. They like it.
It keeps them from coming in contact

Why do the money kings oppose <n
increase in the volume of moiey?
Tbe answer is plain. They know tin
people cant pay their debts with th-‘
present circulation and this will en ••
bled the money lords to take powi-
aion of the people’s properly and
their homes and thus reduce them to
tenant slayery.
Any enterprise that has to have a
charter ftom tbe state or nation be-
fore it can operate implies that the
enterprise is illegitimate and cannot
be run except by tbe special privileg *s
granted in the charter.
But wbat right has a legislature or
Congress to grant special privileges to
certain classes to do wbat would not be
w legitimately without these privileges ?
.w::: zztzzz; sss^asrfiss^s
naturally grow to admire monarchies,
because of tbe castes among classes.
But remember that this is tbe class
that rules this country.
without tbe chartered privil -ges they
wooid’nt want the charter. The Stan-
dard is opposed to every form or spe-
cies of chartered privileges.
Let Ute goverment grant no charter*
for anything.
