Paris! Dec. 12—Thu ministry
held a council, hut tailed to agree
on a pp gramme.
The troop* in Paiis and Yeisailles
are confined to their barracks.
There i* nothing definite about a
new cabinet yet. Tho Dix-Neu-
vienic Siecc speaks of tiis possibili-
ty of president MacMalinn’s im-
peachment on sovctnl grounds.
The clerical organ Defence says
tlie senate’s retinal to sanction dis-
solution would] release president
MacMahon from his promises and
leave him free to retire. The De-
fence, however, hopes president
MacMahon will not bo eager to loiU
such an opportunity and think “his
devotion to the country will suggest
to him a loftier and firmer rcselu-
lion.”
London, Due, 12.4-Thc Standards
Paris special say*: It is difficult to
describe tlie inteyse feeling of »n*
easiness and apprehension that pre-
viitls. lit accordance with orders
from the Minister of Interior all
gunjsbops in Paris have been shut up.
There is no outward syrntom of ag-
itation making such precaution nec-
essary. Some foreigners are leav-
ing Paris.
President Mat Mahon still believes
ho Inis tlie support ot a majority of
tlie Senate. Il is the firm belief of
those who know him best that if tho
Senate reluses dissolution and urges
him to make ovortties to tlie Left,
"lie will simply resign.
