r^, MOVIE NOTE?
By HERBERT PLUMMER
WASHINGTON-There Is a "Hoo-
ter policy” on the side of law today
that augurs for sensational turns
before the last Is heard of this
Undbergh case arrest. Back of It
Is the vigorous lawyer-sleuth, J. Ed-
far Hoover.
It Is, to use his words, "not only
to get criminals themselves but also
all those, who have aided or har-
bored them In the slightest."
n When he spoke, it was the coun-
try at large attacking crime through
the justice department bureau of
investigation which he heads. In
the lesser aspect, It was a card-cata-
Ilogue mind; a mind replete with
painstaking addenda by which to
develop clues.
That power now
Robert Martin of Borger was a
business visitor nere yesterday.
Jack, the dog mascot who attends
encampments of the 111th medical
regiment, Texas national guard, has
been officially promoted from cor-
poral to sergeant
Mr. and Mrs. F. O, Horner of
Wellington visited here yesterday.
Judging from advance reports,
Him fans are in for a hilarious time
when “Call It Luck,” opens Wednes-
day matinee and night, for the 10-
cent showing, at this theatre. The
presence of Herbert Mundin and
Georgia Caine In the cast is suf-
ficiently guarantee of a grand com-
edy.
“Call It Luck” Is a diverting story
of a London cabby who wins a for-
tune in the sweepstakes and then
comes over to America with his
charming niece to spend It. Of
course Mundin takes the part of the
cabby, and it is one of the finest
roles he has ever received. He has
just the right knack of contrasting
pathos and hilarious comedy to
make a humorous situation even
funnier.
As the niece, Pat Patterson, Eng-
lish star who Is becoming Increas-
ingly popular in American films, has
an opportunity to sing in a night
club when her credulous uncle loses

Both units have advan-
tages, the federals from the great
national exchange of crime Infor-
mation at the justice department
the locals from their peculiar knowl-
edge of local conditions and crim-
inals.
The best results will be gained
from more cooperation than Inde-
pendence. The way the federal and
state agencies team up now will be
watched for that very reason.
They have the advantage of unit-
ed national support. There Is none
of this sentiment called "heroizing
of criminals” to deter them.
