COWS PROFITABLE
WITH LITTLE CARE
DIVERSIFIED FARM PROGRAM
PAYS BIG RETURNS, THIS
FARMER FINDS OUT
. The dairy industry is proving
profitable for S. 0. Wilson, Deaf
Smith ( County farmer, who lives
south of Hereford. Wilson is, milk-
ing eighteen cows and his returns
from the sale of whole milk is better
than $10 per day.
Wilson is practicing the diversified
farming program and is making a
go of it. He has 160 White leghorn
hens and is getting better than 100
eggs each day. He plans to brood
out some 500 this year and Mrs.
Wilson is raising a big crop of tur-
keys to help fatten the bankroll.
A little over twelve months ago
Wilson secured four good brood sows
He butchered a number of hogs last
fall for his meat supply and sold
•everal pigs to club boys over the
county and has already marketed
$460 worth of hogs since the first
of the year.
Wilson believes in the idea of bet-
ter livestock. He is a member of
one of the pure-bred Jersey circles,
which was recently formed in Deaf
Smith County, and has a few regis-
tered cows, so that he ran build the
right kind of a herd.
He will farm nearly 200 acres dur-
ing the coming season and will stake
his chances on a number of crops.
He also plans to feed the grain he
raises and will practice the live-at-
home "plan twelve month of the
year
TAKE YOUR RUBBISH
TO DUMPING GROUND
The city government has spent
$75 cleaning up the lane leading
from the highway south to the
dumping ground. The city has gone
to considerable trouble and expense
to provide a place for the disposal
of rubbish, yet some people have so
Httle regard for decency and the
rights of others that they have been
dumping their trash in the lane, not
a quarter of a mile from the dump
ground. THIS PRACTICE MUST
BE STOPPED, or drastic measures
will be taken. It is a finable offense
to dump rubbish along any public
road and this is one luw that is
certainly going to be enforced. ThoRe
who have been guilty will please take
warning.
W. K. McLKMORE.
4-lt-c City Marshal.
