DOG (IT’S IN THE RECORD)
SWALLOWS SILK STOCKING
LONDON (/P)—There’s the story
of the Scottish farmer who found
that the mortality rate among his
cows increased sharply when he be-
gan to employ milkmaids. The milk-
maids dropped hairpins, and the
cows, innocently enough, swallowed
them.
So the dog, a leading English
veterinarian pointed out in a re-
cent lecture, is not the only animal
which acquires illness through
swallowing foreign bodies.
But dogs still lead the field, Eng-
lish dogs, it was brought out, have
swallowed coins, stones, rubber
balls and brooches. There is au-
thentic record, moreover, of one
swallowing a silk stocking.

BERLIN I/P)—Experiments are be-
ing made with a stratosphere rock-
et bomb which, if successful .might
lead to a new and more terrible kind
of warfare.
It is claimed that this missile
could be shot from Berlin to London,
Paris, Warsaw. or Praha and land
within three miles of its objective.
Tests are being conducted near
Berlin, it is understood, but are in
an elementary stage. One difficul-
ty is that the discharge apparatus
is complicated and expensive. Also
the weight of explosives carried is,
relatively small.
Military circles say that if such i
rockets can be perfected they could j
be sent into enemy territory by hun-1
dreds, demoralizing the population
It’s almost as cneap to use printed
stationery as blank, now. See The
