THE SHAMROCK TEXAN, Shamrock, Texas
Large Delegation-
(Contlnued from Pag* 1)
^jj^Yi-State fair.
| Agriculture exhibits, despite stif-
tng, soil-destroying sandstorms of
le spring which caused Rex Tug-
ill, "brain truster,” to predict the
uthwest was turning into a desert,
6 extraordinary.
“Both the agriculture and horti-
Silture exhibits never were better,”
declared Wilbur C. Hawk, president
of the fair association. "Of course,
the livestock exhibits, especially the
Hereford herds, are up to exposition
standard. And last year’s Hereford
show was rated the third largest in
the United States.”
Awards Made
Visitors at the fair today will sec
many of the exhibits already judged.
Awards in many departments
have been made.
Livestock judging does not begin
until 8 o’clock tomorrow morning;
it will continue through Thursday.
Probably the ddfcartment to show
the greatest growth in size is the
rabbit exhibit, which has outgrown
the place allotted to it. Breeders
from Jacksonville, HI., to San Diego,
Calif., and from St. Louis, Mo., to
Fort Worth are competing. Entries
also have been made from Sedalia,
homa of the Missouri State fair,
Oklahoma City and Pueblo, Colo.
Everything at the exposition
grounds was closed throughout
yesterday in observance of the sab-
bath.
Today there will be more bands
on the grounds, the number increas-
ing daily until mid-week when six
or more visiting delegations will be
present at one time.
Tuesday has been designated
Pampa day, Groom day and
Hooker, Okla., day.

and ''k teaspoon gelatin softened
with 14 cup cold water, then dis-

to Incorporate honey thoroughly
and fold in 114 cups whipped cream.
Boiled Rice
1 cup rice
2 quarts boiling water
3 teaspoons salt
Wash rice thoroughly In several i
waters until all loose starch Is re- j
moved. Drain. Have boiling wa- !
ter ready in deep sauce-pan, add I
salt, slowly drop in rice and al- j
low to boil for 12 to 25 minutes, or
until a grain when pressed between
thumb and finger is entirely soft.
In order to prevent rice from stick-
ing to pan, lift, if necessary with
a fork but do not stir. When suffi-
ciently cooked, turn rice into a col-
lander or sieve. A little hot water
may be run through rice to wash
off extra starch. After water has
drained off, cover with a cloth and
set over pan of hot water on back
of stove or oven. Treated in this
way, the grains swell and are kept
separate. Rice cooked in hard wa-
ter is not as white as that cooked
tn soft water. One teaspoon lemon
Juice, V» teaspoon cream tarter or
1 tablespoon vinegar may be used
in hard water to insure snowy white
cooked rice.
