FOR RENT—4-room furnished
house Call at 100 South Nebraska
street. lt-pd
Flardly a week passes that
house-to-house salesman does not ap-
pear in Shamrock. Sometimes they tra-
vel in groups, working the town street
by street and house by house.
He sells hosiery, blankets, groceries,
home remedies, and household conven-
iences, Usually he knocks the home
merchant and tells the lady of the house
that she is being robbed by the local
retailers.
By such tactics, he frequently con-
vinces his prospective customer that he
can offer a much higher quality at a
much lower price than the Shamrock
merchant.
But can he?
<
We venture to say that there is not
a merchant in Shamrock who would
not be glad to compare merchandise and
prices with the transient bell-ringer.
If he tells the truth, the salesman at
your door will have to admit that house
to house canvassing is the most expen-
sive form of distribution, and that high
pressure methods in salesmanship must
be employed to obtain profitable vol-
ume.
la It bettor to be "high preaaured" In-
to buying nn article front a utrnnger, or la
It aafer to buy from your local merchant,
whow reliability la recognized?
We leave the anawrr to you.
