Farm Census Half
Complete In Area
The 1959 Census of Agriculture
is about 50 percent completed In
this area, it was announced to-
day by Field Director James W
Stroud of the Census Bureau's re-
gional office at Dallas
The Census official stated that
he was well pleased with the co-
operation the census takers are re-
ceiving from farmers in the area
and has high hopes ot completing
the canvass within the next ten
canvass of farms Is one of tire
larger costs of the census and that
cooperation of farmers in com-
pleting questionnaires promptly
will be a vital factor In keeping
down the final cost of the under-
taking.

tor of the Rural Scouting Service,

Dies In Wheeler
Funeral services for Mrs W. M
iGrannlei Hampton, 91 a resident
o( Wheeler County since 1698
were held at 3 o'clock Wednesday
afternoon in the First Methodist
Church at Wheeler.
Mrs Hampton died at 11:35 a m
Monday In the home of a son,
Chester M Hampton of Wheeler.
She had been ill for about a
year.
Mrs. Hampton, the former Mary
Jane Whitfield, was born July 35.
1368. in Raleigh, N C., and lived in
Grimes County and Ellis County.
Tex., before moving to Wheeler
County with her husband in 1898
They homesteaded on lund 2’
miles southeast of Wheeler and
farmed there until Mr. Hampton’s
retirement in 1918 He died in 1938
She was a charter member of
the Methodist Church, which was
organized in Wheeler in 1903
Survivors include the son with
whom she made her home: two
daughters. Mrs. Maggie Rathfon
of Oklahoma, and Mrs. Vera Gal-
mor, Wheeler: 21 grandchildren.
, 81 great-grandchildren and 17
| great--great grandchildren.
Mr. and Mrs. Pat Sanders of
8avre. Okla,, are the parents of a
son born December 4. in Shamrock
General Hospital. He weighed
six pounds and three ounces and
was named Jimmy Dale. The
baby’s mother Is the former Vera
Mae Chapman oi Shamrock. The
youngster has nine living grand-
parents and great-grandparents.
They are: Mr. and Mrs. Q J.
Sanders of Erick. Okla.. and Mr.
and Mrs Q. L. Chapman, grand-
parents; Mrs. Nora Sanders, Erick,
Okla., and Mr and Mrs B L.
Cupel!, Canyon, great-grandpar-
ents; and the great-great-grand-
mother is Mrs. Ella Dodson, who
also resides in Canyon
Mr and Mrs. Jerry Ralston are
the parents of a daughter born on
December 4, in Shamrock General
Hospital. She weighed eight pounds
and six ounces and was named
Vicki Sue.
