In the matter of preparing and
compiling new text for Bulletin 111, I
had in mind to follow the same
policy as was adopted in the publi-
cation of my former bulletin; to
solicit material from my numerous
pecan friends over the State, and
incorporate their contributions over
their own signatures. There are two
main reasons why I had adopted this
policy in former publications. One
was that frequently I did not fully

vision required several weeks.
In my former Bulletins, the sub-
ject matter pertaining to Insects and
Diseases was assigned to some one of
my co-laborers who was better qual-
ified to prepare an authoritative text
than I was. But his name appeared
in connection with it, just as the
# names of other cotributors appeared
to their contributions for the former
bulletins.
In the preparation of Insects and
Diseases materials intended for the
new bulletin, Mr. T E. Hagen was
assigned to that task by Mr. Del Cur-
to. But when the materal which he
prepared was presented to the prin-
ter it failed to show who the author
who compiled it was. So as it now
appears in the printed book, it is as-
sumed that I was the author of it, ex-
cept that it shows it to have been
copied from other printed material
of public agencies.

material of pictures which appeared
