Everyone welcomes a box of homemade candies.
I’ccun Butterscotch Sticks
Vt cup butter V* teaspoon salt
1 cup brown sugar 1 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup flour l teaspoon vanilla
1 egg Vz cup broken pecans
Melt butter, add sugar and blend well over low fire, then coot. Add un-
beaten egg and mix well. Add dry ingredients, pecans .anil vanilla.
Bake in It x 8-inch square pan at 350 degrees F. (moderate) for 30 min-
utes. Cut in bars.
Pecan Fruit Chews
3 eggs 1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup sugar 1 cup broken pecans
I cup sifted flour % cup chopped dates
I teaspoon baking powder ,/i cup candied cherries
Vi teaspoon salt
Beat eggs well, add sugar slowly. Sift dry ingredients and add alternately
with vanilla, pecans and fruits. Place In a large baking pan, greased, so
that batter will not be more than '/a-inch thick.
Bake in 350 degrees F, (moderate) oven 30 minutes, or until firm. Cut
in squares.
