Be a Gentleman.
“Be a gentleman and prosper”
is the slogan which a Back Island
official has coined for men in the
company’s offices. Rock Island
employes, in t lie current issue of
the company’s monthly, are to’d
the value of a smile, and asked ‘o
be polite to Rock Ishnd patrons.
The writer says: ‘ Few \ oung
men realize how effectively cour
tesy invites success. The world
is full of unsuccessful men who
have lost their chance because
they failed adeqaate'v to value
the efficacy ofa smile. The soft
answer uot only turns away wrath
but it puis the boss in a good
humor.”
“Even the highest ability sel
dom commands recognition unless
it is accompanied by the habit of
courtesy Without it the average
man seldom rises above medioc
rity. Mental canvass of success
ful men you know will disclose
many who have no marked abiffiy
Unthinking jealously credits their
prosperity to luck. Scan them
more close y and you will dis
cover that good will has been’an
important factor in their upward
climb. They have made a little
brains go a long way with the aid
ofa pleasing personality.’’
Disguised Bootlegger.
It is reported that there is an
individual who crosses the r ivtr
at Reese’s Ferry, who wears a
dress and a bonnet as a disguise,
and is bootlegging liquor in this
county. lie carries the whisky in
a sack and when he is selling it
he hands it to you and holds a gun
on you at the same time. This
individual will find some one be
fore long who will make him give
up his gun and shed the dress,
and make known bis identity,
much to his displeasure. — i)t Kalb
Enterprise.
To say the least, he, she or it, or
whatever may be, the scheme is
great, but when they set cut on
that line, they’l take desperate
chances, yet no doubt somebody
will be-in position to take proper
care of the case soon.
Bread upon the Waters.
Verily, a courteous act is like
bread cast upon the waters, for it
is most surely to return some day
A young man of Baiubridga, Ga ,

berth while traveling four years
ago with a stranger from Los
Angeles, Cal, who was an invalid
and when the stranger died be

SHE COULD SHOUT, SAYS
Mrs John W Pitchford of
AtSPEN, N C.
I will always use Hunt’s Cure
for itching trouble, and tell all 1
see about it. I eould shout now
to know that we are all well of
that dreadful trouble. The first
of last fall my little boy broke out
with some kind of itching trouble
Thinking his blood was bad I
gave him a blood touic, but he
got worse, and could hot sleep at
uight. Some said he had itch,
and told me what was good for it
I used what peop e said would
cure it, hut nothing did any good.
Yly other two children and my
self took the disease from him in
January, 1911. I saw Hunt’s
Cure advertised and I purchased
a 50c box. It helped my little boy
so much I got a box for each of
the family, and now we are well
of that awful trouble. Hunt’s
Cure will cure itch in a short time
ii' y ou will go by directions. We
had it in its worse form, and used
II uni’s Cure, and we are now all
well

get serious very quickly if neg-
