The grand jury that has just
adjourned probably broke the
record by finding twenty-eight
biiis. This large number of bills
is due to the transient population
now in the county and thp ear-
nest effort put forth by the jury
to ferrit out all violations of law.
The Court paid the jury a hand-
some compliment for ite pains-
taking aiacharge of its duties.
The ladieg of the Hook Club were en-
tertained at the pretty home of Mrs.
Grtiver C. Goff Tuesday afternoon from
four to six o’clock. There were fifteen
members and guests present, as fol-
lows: Mesdames H. P. Thomas, L. J.
Brocks, E. J. Brocks, L. E. Heath,
Tom Heath, F. M. Posey, Will Hollo-
way, Tom Holloway, T. A. White,
Horace Bradley, H. J. Meyer, Annie
Parchman. Misses Lina Stone und Em-
ma Millar and the hostess, Mrs. G. C,
Goff.
Several interesting games were j
played in which Mrs. Tom Heath won
the first prize while the consolation
went to Mrs. L. E. Heath. The guest
prize was awarded to Mrs. T. A. ,
White.
At the close of the playing, refresh-
ments of lemonade punch and sand-
wiches were served.
The next meeting will be with Mr*.
Horace Bradley Tuesday. May 2Xth.
