Chris. C. Milli of Shebt^gan. Michi-
gan. and J. A Mill* of D'Hani* were
in Hondo Tuesday on a pleasure trip.
This I* the elder Mr. Mill*' first trip to
Texas and he find- it uncomfortably
warm, having ju#t left a country cov-
ered with three feet At snow.
We are requested to announce that
the I’. E. O. Sisterhood will have a
man at Public Park next Monday to
plant tree# and shrubbery, ami any one
having trees or, plants to donate to
the park are requested to deliver them
at the park that day or notify some
member of the society and the same

of Spring aad Summer Millinery, from’
the St. Louis Market, on display at thc
Maak & Sun store and invites the la-
dte* of Hondo and vicinity to call and
HMpcrt the same before purchasing
elsewhere. Newest and most approved
style.. heat fabrics and reasonable
price. Give her a calL tf.
Agent P. J ungman, apropos of our
reference to the freight rate on wood
from this place in our last issue, calls
sur attention to another feature of the
■une. He say* that a cord of wood
will weigh at least three thousand
pounds-often times more aad when
the company pulls a cord from here to
Alpine for three dollars it it doing m>
at the rate of ten cents per hundred
pounds for a distance of 320 miles.
This certeinly look* like a very low
rate for such a haul and yet it looks
like the read could make it low enough
for H not to be prohibitive. We are
glad to thus be able to give both the
shipper and the carrier's side of the
question and if it brings them closer
together on terms of mutual helpful*
neas and a better understanding our
reference to the matter will have
aery ed its purpose.
