country was a business visitor at
Hondo Saturday.
Mrs. Jacob Fuos and little son,
Jacob, Jr., were pleasant callers at
this office Thursday.
Mrs. Earl Boon and daughter, Miss
Lucille, are spending the week in San
Antonio with friends.
Miss Lillian Brucks is attending
summer school at Our Lady of the
Lake College in San Antonio.
H. Moebius is spending the week
in San Antonio on business. He com-
plains that the city is extremely dull.
Mr. and Mrs. Emil Bendele and
daughters, Ella Nora and Anna M <e,
of Noonan, spent Saturday in Hondo.
Mrs. Ferguson, the San Antonio
Chiropractor, was the guest of
friends here for a short time Sun-
day.
Roy Stone and family wer week-
end visitors of the getloman's sister
and brother, Miss Lena and Bine
Stone.
John H. Hutzler of Dunlay and
Anton Bohl of LaCoste were visi'urs
at the Anvil Herald office yesterday.
Mr. Bohl’s wife is in a San Antonio
hospital recuperating from a recent
operation.
M ill Earnest Newton arrived home
Thursday n ght from Amarillo and
other Panhandle points where he has
been for the past three or four
weeks. He struck some wet coun-
try, being waterbound in San Angelo
for nearly a week, but says that
nowhere are crops looking promis-
ing.
We have been favored with sever-
al copies of "The Maroon and
White,” a four column folio school
paper issued by the students of
Schreiner Institute of Kerrville, Tex-
as. The paper is well edited and
neatly gotten up from a typographic
tandpoint. It is brimming with
news of the activities of the Schrein-
er student body, and every issue is
t boost for that coming institution.
Hondo can riaim no small credit for
the excellence of the paper for the
name of a Hondo boy flies at the
masthead as editor—Tony Windrow.
Robert Rcitzer and Henry Buss
will be hosts to the members of the
local branch of the National Rural
Letter Carriers Association here Sun-
, day. The local association is com-
posed of the district covered by Atas-
cosa, Bexar and Medina counties.
The location selected for the meeting
is the grove in the north part of town
and representatives from the above
mentioned counties are expected to
be present.
The Dallas Daily Ncw3 reaches
Hondo at 11:50 o’clock A. M. on it*
day of publication. The News is

Wesley Saathoff was home from
Camp Normoyle last week-end visit-
ing his parents, Prof, and Mrs. W.
N. Saathoff, and returned to Camp
Sunday evening. Wesley is another
Hondo boy who is making good. He
is in the motor mechanics division of
the U. S. Army, and is well pleased
with the service.

days visiting Mrs. Emma Haass of
