THE BELLAIRE TEXAN
Page 7
The Robert E. Lee De
Molays have been doing quite
a bit lately, which is why
you haven’t seen us in this
spot for the past couple of
months.
Our greatest achievemijnt
and most time was spent in
preparation for and compet-
ing at Tournament of Champ-
ions in Dallas. Lee De Molays
competed in both the Initia-
tory and Demolay Degrees
and cameawaywithanumber
of medals. Don Rosato won
Best Master Councilor in the
Initiatory Degree and our
DeMolay Degree won First
Place. Tournament of Ch-
ampions is held once a year
and only the best chapters
from Texas and seven other
states are invited to
compete. Only teams that
are invited may compete and
to be invited is an honor.
Softball season is upon us
and to date our record is (one
win, two losses, one tie);
we’ll keep on trying on that
record. The team is coached
by Dad Wesley Cox and con-
sists of 15 of Lee's finest.
Good Luck Team.
On Sunday, May 12, the
chapter members doned
bathing suits and cut-offs
and headed for Surfslde Be-
ach for a day of fun in the
sun. About twenty- five
members along with our
Sweetheart, Natalie Coquyt;
and Duchess, Rhona Barefoot
(were chaperoned by Dad
Rex and Mrs. Barefoot, Dad
Walt and Mon-to-be Anne
Puckett, and Wesley Cox.)
Although a few of us came
away with mild sunburns,
most agree that it was a fan-
tastic day.
The Second Annual All-
Day Pancake Feast was held
May 18, with great success.
The final total was $350. pro-
So it looks as though the
work was well worth It.
May 25, was the date of
the 70th Installation of Off-
icers of the chapter. New
Officers are Master Coun-
cilor, Tommy Hardey, Sen-
ior Councilor, Matt Bartel;
and Junior Councilor, Steve
Miears. Our New Sweet-
heart is Jan Jackson, Per-
shing Junior High. Congra-
tulations, Jan and welcome
to our DeMolay family.Bro-
ther Jimmy LaRoe received
the award as Outstanding
DeMolay of the Term and
Brother Steve Miears was
voted Most Outstanding Fi-
rst Year DeMolay. Con-
gratulations to both of these
fine members. The biggest
surprise was the announce-
ment that the cecision at
Tournament of Champions
had been reversed and our
DeMolay Degree Team had
won first place in the Invi-
tational Level. Congratula-
tions guys, you’re great!
Sammy Listi won the
Jesse H. Jones Scholarship
from Bellaire High School.
Only a few seniors are cho-
sen each year for this award
and we’re certainly proud of
Sammy. Congratulations5
Sammy. Congratulations and
best o f luck, Sammy.
Around September the
stork should be flying aw-
fully low over the Puckett’s
house. Both Mom Si Dad
Puckett are very excited at
the thought of becoming par-
ents, as are Dad Harry and
Anne McMahan, who are the
proud grandparents, and
Brother Mike Jfchtahan who
will become an uncle for the
third time.
Preparations are now un-
der way for Area Conclave.
We will practice, practice
and practice more, then on
to STATE.
Remember De Molay is
Brotherhood through Action.
