THE BELLAIRE TEXAN
Page 3
Gentlemen:
In answer to your request
to ’get it said’:
This Is to Inform the ci-
tizens of Bellaire of our new
facility - the Chimney Rock
Speedway. No longer does
one have to travel to South
Main’s Meyer Speedway to
hear the screeching of
brakes, gunning of motors
and clashing of metal. Any
morning, noon, or late even-
ing we, the citizens along
our new sppedway, are tre-
ated to those thrill — if
this happens to be your cup
of tea. Unfortunately, for
many of us, it Is not and
we pay a dear price. Some
have taken to protecting ho-
me and limb by Install-
ing concrete posts in their
yards. The ironv of It Is
that houses bordering Chim-
ney Rock are taxed more he-
avily than the rest of us.
Having a car land in one’s
yard must be a high hon-
or requiring heavier taxa-
tion. Also, please keep in
m'nd the new bicycle trails
along this speedway, and
let’s pay our children will
be safe along them.

Well there Is one thing
I would like to get off my
chest. Please tell me why
people walk their dogs and
have them mess up your yard
and you have to run the
mower thru it, find your
paper thrown into the mess
and they have yards of their
own. Why can’t they use
their yards to walk their
dogs.
I have a dog but she
stays in her fence and is
never walked and she does
just fine and bothers no one
else’s yard.
Mrs. M.M.D.

This terrible litter on
every corner, street and
ditch Is very ugly - I just
wonder If there is any possi-
ble thing that could be done
about It. I feel that we do
not have enough litter bar-
rens, they can be abeautiful
container which would not
be unsightly - And too, might
I suggest more reminders
on radio and Lv. that it is
unlawful and is ruining our
beautiful country.

lng a hat box, obviously a
model, floating from one ap-
pointment to the next, fetch-
ing, photogenic , and ador-
able.
Before you and the child-
ren are aware, the young
lady has breezed Into some
bedrooms and you are all
witness to a whore plying
her trade. You are instan-
taneously swept into what the
newspapers categorize as an
R rated movie, fringing ob
the X.
Your eleven year old, Lana
pops her head In for a mo-
ment at the screen door to
inform you she Is playing
with Janice, the child up the
street...‘‘But don’t worry,
mom and dad, we’re not do-
ing anything bad, we’ve just
got TVon at Janice’s, In
fact, we’re watching the
same movie. Janice says the
star of this movie won an
Academy Award and she
saw her accept it. She was
so surprised and elated that
she kissed her boy friend
who was sitting next to her
at the Academy Award pro-
gram. They’re not engaged
or married because that is
old fashioned,--they’re just
living together, which is
much better. Bye!”
The screen door slams
shut, and merrily trot Lana
and Janice back to Janice’s
house.
You brought the family
to church and Sunday School
this morning hoping to im-
plant some moral goodness.
What supposedly was to
have been a quiet and harm-
less afternoon at home now
suddenly becomes frustrat-
ing and disturbing.
You could turnoff the set,
perhaps change the channel,
or send the children out to
play........but every home up
and down the street has a
TV, and what about tomor-
row, and the next day fol-
lowing, and the next........
