Convenience For Bus Riders
One of our readers called the Times this week with
what we consider an excellent idea—and a practical one,
to boot.
“Why don’t they,” the lady asked, “put up public tele-
phone booths at strategic points along the bus lines?”
This particular lady’s home is served by the Bellaire bus.
She lives far enough south of the boulevard to make walk-
ing from the bus stop to her house almost a feat of ath-
letic prowess.
As a result, when her husband, some other member
of the family or some car-less visitor is expected, she must
park near the orange and black post and wait. The waiting
can often take as much as an hour and the lady feels that
such a delay is unnecessary, as well as disruptive to her
daily routine.
The Times believes that what she asks is sensible and
feasible. In erecting the public booths, similar to some few
found downtown and in stadiums, the telephone company
would certainly stand to build a lot of good will in the area.
The bus routes in the area are certainly far apart in
much of the section. A convenient place for the bus traveler
to telephone upon arrival at his stop would be a blessing.

you wouldn’t do anything to spoil

Mr. Holdfast — “Certainly not.
To show you I am as generous as
you dreamed, you may keep that
