7:15 and 8:15 a. m. Rev. Arthur

and again at 8:30 a. m.
Larson Will Preach
Special music has been planned
for the Thanksgiving program be-
ginning at 10 a. m. in Christ the
King Lutheran Church, corner of
Rice Boulevard and Greenbriar,
according to Rev. Kenneth C. Lar-
son, pastor.
Thanksgiving morning services
will be held at 9 a. m. in St. An-
drew's Presbyterian Church, Bis-
sonnet at Buffalo Speedway, with
Dr. Malcolm L. Purcell, paster, of-
ficiating.
Rice Temple Baptist Church,
6309 Greenbriar, will hold a pro-
gram at 8 p. m. Wednesday. Rev.
J. Vernon Wheeless is pastor.
Sunday school children at Pil-
grim Lutheran Church, 5410 Old
Richmond Road, will provide spe-
cial music for the group’s observ-
ance at 9:30 a. m. Thursday, ac-
cording to Rev. Leon Birnbaum,
pastor.
Both Episcopal churches, St.
Mark’s at 3816 Bellaire Boulevard
and Palmer Memorial at 6221
Main, will celebrate Holy Com-
munion at 10 a. m. Thursday. Rev.
J. Lawrence Plumley is rector of
St. Mark’s. Rev. Stanley L. Smith
is rector at Palmer Memorial.

Bellaire Police Chief
To Attend Police School
Police Chief John Hlavaty will
represent Bellaire at a special po-
lice school at Camp Mabry, Texas,
next month. The council voted last
week to pay his expenses for the
two-week training period.
The school, sponsored jointly by
the Texas Department of Public
Safety and the Texas League of
Municipalities, will last from De-
cember 5 through 17.
The City of West University
Place is in “the best hands it ever
has been," declared Former Mayor
Ralph Lee who paid an impromptu
visit to the city council meeting
Monday night.
Complimenting the body on its
harmonious working, Mr. Lee
said: “You’ve won the battle with
Uncle Oscar. If there had been
dissention among the members
here, he’d have been quick to take
advantage of it.”
Mr. Lee said he had no political
ambitions at this time. He added
that since he got out of offioe he
could get to bed at 9:30 p. ra. any
night he felt like it.
