The Yellow Jackets Girls’ team

although it was made up of pick

in a real game, they made the
most of it by playing a scrim,

Increased Equipment in
Carrollton High School
Needed equipment is |being
added to departments in Carroll-
ton high echool from tiaae to
time until they are getting sup-
plied with standard materials
and will be fully able to meetany
aqd all requirements. Just this
week they received and unpack
ed $100 worth of chemical equip-
ment. This added to that already
received this season makes $267
worth of this equipment install-
ed. They are also baying con-
structed tables to the value of
$80 for use in the chemical lab-
oratory, which added to other
equipment received makes their
work much more possible.
They have just purchased $50
worth of suits for the basket ball
boys and will have them com-
pletely outfitted. The girls team

deluge of laughs. Monday they will
show “Drumsof the Desert” and have

Mr. Turnor is an experianced mo-
tion picture show manager and has
made successes of them. We expect

Held in Carrollton
The fifth Sunday meeting of Baptist
Missionary Association of Dallas
county convened with the Union Bap-
tist church here last Friday, Satur-
urday and Sunday. Rev. W. S. Me
Right presided as Moderator. A good
attendance was in evidenee. A pro-
gram of much interest was enjoyed

organized a Home Economic Club this
week and elected officers. They will
work under Mrs. J. Emmett Gentryof
Coppell who has made such a success
of the club at that place. The officers

Willie Fay Hofmann; vice president,
Alma Brown; Secretary-treasurer,
Olivine Patterson; Pianist, Jack
Lewis; reporter; Francine Sims.

Riehardson last week and stole
seven casings and one rim. Part
of the stuff was insured.
Up at Sanger a rat got on the
switchboard and getting on two
"live” fuses caused a short
w hich burned out a small trans-
former and cooked the rat. The
plant was out of service for a few
hours while the trouble was be-
ing located and remedied. Dam
age $40 and a dead rat.

scorers on 42 and Oiiver gra-
ciously passed the honor to Mrs.
Foster. In Bridge Mr. Hugh
Torrence was high scorer and
carried away the prize.
These socials events are given
three or four times each year
and are greatly enjoyed by the
male members of the family we
are sure.

Out at the Travis Club House
on Monday night about one hun
dred persons enjeyed a Hallo-
w’een party given by the First
Baptist church. The house was
gaily decorated in colors and
images appropriate to the occa
sion and there were spooks and
gho->t8 galore. It was a creepy
feeling one had when they saw
the various wierd persons about.
Ha'lowe’en games and tricks
were led by Mrs. C. A.Good and
Mrs. Roy Russell and at the
proper time refreshments con-
sisting of sandwiches, pumpkin
pie, and coffee were served.
Fifteen in One Kill.
Fifteen sweet potatoes in one
hill, and they weighing thirteen
pounds is a nice record for this
district. H, G. Foster, one of our
desire of oil men who are now
ready to take the needed action
in that line.
The J, B. Alford Oil Co., are
the ones who will make the tests

pany with C. T. Pledger, who
has taken a large number of leas-
es and is.now turning these leas-
es to the Alford company, with
the idea of getting the blocking
completed and work started.
It is hoped that tne needed
leases can be made to Complete
the block and then active work
in sinking the prospect will be-
gin. It is very evident that no
one will do the needed drilling
until complete blocking is made
so it is to the interest of Carroll-
ton land holders that the com-
pleting of the block be done as
soon as is possible.
On Saturday Mr. Alford or
associates will be in Carrollton
at the Chronicle office to meet
land owners and try to get the
leasing arranged. All laud own-
ers are invited to come to this
office during the day Saturday,
representatives will be here from
9 o’lock in the morning until 6
o clock in the evening and they
want to meet you. This is the
time to get a test for oil in Car-
rollton district so you are urged

The,body was taken to Frankfort,
north of Addison for burial. A
large number of friends of the
family from Carrol.ton went over
to the funeral to pay their last
respects to their old friend and
neighbor. Mr. Boatright was
tlie father of our fellow-towns-
man Fred Boatright and he, a8
well as the other members of the
family have the sympathy of the
community.in their loss.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs.

The Pastors Conference met
last Thursday evening in the
Christian church to attend to
what business should come un-
der its jurisdiction. After the
business was fiuished they were
invited to Rev. Wilkins home for
" social evening and delicious re
freshments were served to Rev.
R. R. Loyd, Rov. E. L. Jones,
Rev. C. C. Armstrong and Rev.
S. E Wilkin by Mrs. Wilkin and
Miss Emma Lee Jones.
