course was served by the charming

; ly. An interesting paper on Mr. Gar-
land’s "Ruthless Realism,” we read
by Mrs. O. P. Herndon, this was
followed by an equally interesting
paper on, Mr. Garland’* "Portal of
I-ove,’’ by Mr*. Wyckltffe Skinner.
Both of these papers showed that the
ladies who had written them had
given much time and thought to the
writing of them. The round table
discussion was led by Mr*, ft. B.
Curry and many were the interest-
ing topics discussed. ,

On Saturday afternon laat. at the
borne of Mrs. H. T. Hall at Harbin-
a miscellaneous shower *t» given
Mr*. U K. Pitman, formerly Misa
Odessa Alexander and a member of
the 1924 Senior Claas of the Harbin
High School. The house waa beauti-
fully decorated with autumn colors,
the gaudy leave* and berries adding
charm and beauty to the scene, while
refreshment* wejtv being served,
little Genevieve Cltne gave the bride
a wonderful surprise by drawing
through the dining room and to the
stdo of the surprised young matron
a beautifully decorated earring*
loaded with beautiful gifts. Follow-
