IN THE SHOPS AND YARDS
On account of having tn attend court
yesterday the following employes of the
Southern Pacific ysxdta were obliged t
take a day off: Henry Brandt assistant
yard master; Fred Brandt day engine
fierder; John Amerson. switchman and
John Mulvey. tiwitchuian. oil mill engine.
Jim Dillard. assistant hostler In the
Central shops. Is taking a few days lay-
off and his place is being filled la the
meantime by Fireman Harry Freusner
who is waiting for his engine to
come out of the shope where it has been
several days undergoing certain repairs.

engine 164 who has been laying off for
more than a week la still off and i
spending a great deal of his time on hla
farm In the vicinity of Houston Heights
and also on one of his farms in Waller
county. '
The news from Palestine Is to the ef-
fect that the International and Great
Northern shops at that place have re-
duced the working force by dispensing
with the services of fifteen men. on ac-
count uf their labor not being neces-
sary. The new sheds In the Central yards are
being hurried to completion and will be
used for the storage of various thing)
necessary to the building and material
department of the roau.
Switch Engineer Warren Oeorge of the
International and Great Northern took
a lay-off yesterday and went to Pales-
tine where he will spend several days
visiting his family.

Northern people as soon as It is ready
for the road.
The KAty people sent a long extra to
Galveston yesterday and It Is stated that
one or two will be seat over the Houston-Smith

in the yards several days will be turned
out of the shops In a day or so and will
be as good as new in every respect.
The Katy people yesterday received
three cars of coal and also sent three
cars of coal to the yards at Galveston

Southern Pacific was yesterday taken out
of the Southern Pacific bops and trans-
ferred to the Cental depot.
