stead or a championship came they wars
treated to a display of "childishness by
thst bunch of yellowback dinners who
would like people to think they are War-
riors when. In fact they are but poor
Imitations of four-flushers.
As ths time to start the came drew
ear it became evident that something
was wrong and It soon developed that
Walter Morris the manager of the Quit-
ters objected to Oerald Hayes ths of-
ficial umpire offlcuttnc aa umpire be-
cause they hod l"st a couple of games

to square themselves with the fau. at
Baa Antonio revived that hoary oM
chestnut of "robbed by the umpire." anl
se Morris stated emphatically he would
not play If H.t)ce umpired.
This Is an old -nek with Morris. Twice
before this rear he has left the field tr-

teammates their salaries had to go Into
his pocket end pay fur hla manager's
schoolboy stunts. It makes no differ-
ence to Morris: he don't have to cough
up the cost and draws his salary every
month.
A few minutes after 4 o'clock Umpire
Hayes snnound the batteries to the
crowd snd called op the teams to play
ball. The Houstin men took their posi-
tions in the field but the San Antonio
en refused to so to the bat. At this
yaseture Morris Block the man whom
Morris and ths otlier players expect to
pay them went to the San Antonio bench
end ordered the team to play ball but
they refused meet Insultingly to obey
their employer snd began to put up their
bats Bill 8orr.ll In the mean lime tossed
few balls over the plate and Mr. Hayei
declared the game forfeited to Houston

he 8aa Antonio bunch left the park

Mr. C. E. Rlrlly said thst If he had
'been in HlocK's place when tite players

the offending plsyers all that wsa owing

A meeting of the league will be called

To ( all the boys to place.
Steen times Miaa Jones harangued
Those boys on need of grace.
But mill when'er the bell
Gau rocking to and fro
Those boys would start pell-mell
And up the stair they'd go.
Panting and puffing loud.
Tho' 'twee against the rule.
This pesky roguish crowd
Would scramble Into school.
But finally one dny.
The steenth time as I said.
The school-ma'am barred the way.
Her face with anger red.
The foremost to advance
Fhe caught him by the hair.
Said she "Tour puffs and pants.
Hereafter leave down there."
