A heavy rata fell here Sunday during
which the residence of Jacob El chert
waa struck by lightning but no one was
seriously hurt. Arrangements are being
made to ship a carload of onions from
Goliad next week which win be the first
carload ever shipped from this point.

May M.. Five cars of onions and potatoes
are being shipped from here this week.
Prices are very low and unsatisfactory.

both potatoes and onions.

Fort Worth. Texas May i. Tomorrow
morning will be the opening services of
the general assembly of the Southern di-
vision of the Presbyterian church. Com-
missioners to th assembly have already
begun to arrive.
At the opening of the session tomorrow
morning Dr. S M. Ned of Kansas City
will aroach th opening seinsuu at U
o'clock after which the assembly will
proceed to elect the officers of the or-
ganisation for the coming year.
The general assembly Is the highest
body of tho Presbyterian church m th
South and hi composed of thirteen synod
or some eighty-odd presbyteries. Each
presbytery in tha aasesabiy is entitled to
two commissions hr the general assem-
bly ooe minister and on older while If
there are mare than twenty -five minis-
ters in sny on presbytery tho same Is
entitled to a double representation. Be-
sidss the white representative to the as
sembly there will be at least four colored
commissioners present there being two
colored presbyteries in the bounds of the
