withstanding that posses numbering more
than a hundred men have been searching
for "Bad Jake" Noble with the avowed
purpose of capturing him dead or alive
he Is still at large in Breathitt county.
Noble is wanted for the murder of
Jailer Wesley Turner at Jackson Tuesday
night His whereabouts in the Lost
creek section of the county are known al-
most to the exact spot but the fear of
being killed evidently deters the posse
from making a determined assault upon
his stronghold

uel Rice age U. whose skull was crushed
by a falling advertising pole at the grand
prize race course yesterday died today
after two operations were made in an ef-
fort to remove pressure from his brain.
Several hundred race spectators saw the
accident.

early this morning destroyed the house of
D. T. McKmney on East McKinney
street causing a loss of about 12000. In-
surance to the amount of 11254 was car-
ried on the house and furniture. The
blaze was caused by a lamp explosion.

month and eyea were constantly twitch-
ing. Her ayes were wide open; she
stared vacantly at the celling. Mr.

who attended the funeral. He did not
enter the room where his wife lay he
did not ask me how she was He put
on his ever coat and hat and went down
town.'

hearing was had yesterday by County
Judge W. W. Dies on the complaints of
the county attorney and George C. Clongh
of Galveston representing the Texas
breweries against Tom Malevansea J. &
Higglns and Bob ChappeO liquor dealers
at Sour Lake for violation of the Fits
hugh-Kobtnson law and the action was
brought to cancel their licenses. The
cases were set for last Mondanv and con-
tinued until Thursday. When court met
then Mr. Clough announced that tho cases
would be dismissed. This was refused by
the court who insisted that charges had
been made and that the case should be
tried and when no evidence was offered
the court rendered a verdict of "net
guilty."

discussion. This question proved to be
