1 Tbsp. horseradish
1 tsp. saltCook a few minutes, stirring constantly. Cool.
Make pie crust using one whole pkg. Pillsbury's Pie
Crust Mix, Roll to fit a normal cookie sheet. Fit in
cookie sheet, leaving excess at edges to fold over top
crust. Make another crust using whole pkg, Pie Crust
Mix. Fill lower crust with clam mix, spreading smoothly,
Cover wi tn top crust. Seal edges. Cook at 425 degrees
until brown. Cool and divide in 3 sections, Wrap tightly
in silver foil and store in deep freeze until ready to use,
When ready to use, remove from deep freeze and thaw
enough to cut in one inch squares. Do not thaw too much
as it is easier to cut while still partially frozen, Put in
oven, 425 degrees, on silver foil, until sizzling hot,
Serve immediately or put in chafing dish,TEXAS BEAN DIP
4 c. pinto beans
3 cloves garlic, mashed
6 Tbsp. bacon drippings
or lard or a fist-size
of salt pork
1 c. butter or margarine
dash of Mexican hot sauceMrs. James G. Casner
2 c, chopped onion
2 tsp, round cumin seed or
4 tsp. of the seed, crushed
6 Tbsp. chili paste or powder
salt to taste
1/2 lb. Cheddar cheese,
gratedSoak beans overnight (or boil for 2 minutes in 10
c. water, remove from heat, cover and let stand 1 hour. )
Put in a pottery ermmel or glass pot with soaking water.
Add onions, garlic, cumin seed and fat. Simmer 3 to
4 hours. When beans are soft add cnili paste and
continue cooking a few minutes. Add salt, about 3 tsp.
While beans are still warm, mash in the butter, cheese,
and Mexican sauce. Blend until smooth. Serve warm
with tostados.
