A most delightful day was spent at the
home of Misses Ruth and Evelyn Btir-
llnsame Wednesday when they enter-
tained with a spend-the-duy party com
plimentary to three spring brides. Miss
Edith Toutra. Miss Cecelia Crawford and
Miss Ida Bell. These brides-to-be Hre
three of tiie Heights' most charming
young Uidies being accomplished and
willing with the beautiful blushing rose
bud in beauty. Besides the honor guests
the Misses Burlingame entertained Miss
Esther Poutra and Mis. Cuy Winston.
The guests carried their hand work and
spent the day sewing.
At noon a delicious luncheon was serv-
ed in an artistic dining room. The col-
or scheme was carried out in yellow and
white vases and howls held roses in the
chosen color the ylace cards being beau-
tifully hano. painted in tiie t hosen col-
ors' and each honor guesl was the recip-
ient of a lovely bride's gift hiok.

Miss Gladvs Morrison entertained in
honor of the S. L.' I. girls with a heart
party last Wednesday evening. Spring
flowers tastefully decorated the home.
After a portion of the evening had been
spent playing hearts a delicious ice
course was served by two charming lit-
tle girls little Misses Arlene Crigshy
and Helen Morrison. The latter part of
the evening was "made most enjoyable
with instrumental and vocal selections
rendered by Miss Cleo Latchford and
Miss Irene 1'pehurch.

Sixth Annual Picnic Saturday.
The Knights and Ladies of Security
will hold their sixth annual picnic Sat-
urday May 1 ut Highland park. Mem-
bers with well filled- baskets accom-
panied by their friends are expected. Fun
for everybody haa been provided races
of all kinds special attractions and
amusements. Cars will leave Franklin
and Main at l'l o'clock in the moi rang
or a Woodland Heights can be taken for
the grounds any time during the day.
Indicted In Six Cases.
J. Harvey Hill formerly teller of the
Security Trust company was Indicted In
six .liases of felony embezzlement by the
grand jury Saturday. He was absent from
the city in Brazoria county where he was
notilie.l and he w-l return to Houston
Monday. The indictments handed down
Saturday are in substitution of previous'
indictments based on the same transac-
tion. These were dismissed because of a
defect and since that time the cases have
never been 'tried.

of the funds being raised for the purpose !
of establishing a State training school for
girls as soon as the work has been I
started. This was the arrangement made I
between County Judge Ward and Judge 1
Quentin 1. Corley of Dallas county in a
letter received from the latter Saturday. I

ville The sum being raised by the onun-
ties of the State amounts to 125000 to
equal a similar amount appropriated by
the legislature.
