The Last Advertisement
"CCCIVCNJ IMO.
This is the last of a series of advertise-
ments which have dealt v illi the most extra-
ordiiijirv off. r in the history of book-selling:
the offer on behalf of the Cambridge Eniver-
sitv lh-ess of England of the new Eneyclo-
p;U'dia Britannica at prices far less than new
eilitioiis .f thi- celebrated work have hereto-
fore been sold.
The purpose of this campaign of publicity
has now been achieved. The new Britannica
is widely known as the best 1 k of universal
reference in exislellce. Hereafter b will be
supplied in exactly the same bindings at the
higher prices to go into effect alt r today
through booksellers and agents.
A success beyond all anticipa'ion lias
been accomplished. On the one hand this
wonderful new edition of the standard work
of reference has found the public eager to
welcome the appearance of so useful and so
authoritative a summary and digest of all
human knowledge. On the other hand sub-
scribers by whom the volumes are being used
in the business office the factory the library
ami the home have given the most enthusias-
tic expression to their appreciation of the
book and thousands of them have remarked
upon the remarkably liberal terms upon
which it mav be obtained.
Nearly every reader of this advertisement has
already given some thought to the question whether he
will subscribe. Many of them have doiibl less said: "That
is a mighty fine book. I shall get it some day." But
after today it will be too late to get it unless they wish
to pay more; it will be too late lor anyone to get it at
the present low prices unless he dispatches an order by-
post or by telegraph before ll' o'clock tonight.
