adnBted a resolution authorising- the al-
I lowing of two unite In the throe subjects
In which an applicant lor a ciropwi
maket hie lowest grades in caaee where
the applicant has spent one year In a
school of pharmacy.
This means that If an applicant makes
St In his three loweat subjects and baa
attended a school of pharmacy as much
as one year he will be given two units on
each subject allowing him the necessary
CO per cent which Is the lowest 'an ap-
plicant can make on any subject and re-
ceive a certificate.
"In other words an applicant who has
spent one year In a school of pharmacy
will get two units la case he makes- only
M per cent by virtue of his haying at-
tended the school that one year" said R.
H. Walker secretary of the board. "It
was done to encourage the attendance of
school of pharmacy and to stimulate the
desire to obtain a college education."
Election of officers was held Wednes-
day morning. W. A. Cousins of Dallas
was elected president and R. H. Waller
of Gonzales was re-elected secretary-
treasurer making the coming year his
eighteenth In that service.
He was also elected a delegate to the
National Association of Boards of Phar-
macy which will be held at San Francisco
August to 14.
San Antonio was selected ss -the next
meeting place of the board. The meeting
will be held September 11.

Two ordinances having to do with traf
fic and the safety of the public. In addi-
tion to that regulating Jitneys were pass-
ed by the city council at an adjourned
meeting Wednesday. One provides a
penalty for Injury to persona and damage
to nroDertv throuch reckless driving.
The other requires that employed chauf-
feurs secure a license.
The first states that "It shall be un-
lawful to operate or cause or permit to be
operated any vehicle on the streets of the
city of Houston in such manner as to
Injure the Uvea or property of the clt-
Isens or Inhabitants of ths city of Hous-
ton and any person operating a vehicle
in such reckless or careless manner aa to
cause injury to persons or property on
the streets of tne city or Houston snau
be culltv of an offense and upon convic
tion thereof In the corporation court shall
be punished by fine In any sum not less
than WS nor more than $200."
It la stipulated also that any person
guilty of violating this ordinance Is sub-
ject to having his license revoked.
Tna ordinance covering uie securing of
a license requires that application be
made to the superintendent of police and
that the application bear the endorsement
of two reputable and experienced auto
mobile drivers who know the applicant
to be "of good moral character and habits."-
and Is Qualified to drive a motor-
driven vehicle In a "prudent skillful and
safe manner.
The license fee is M cents payable on
application.
