Better pay for teachers will be the
keynote of the business taken up by the
State teachers' convention to be held In
Houston during tbe Thanksgiving holi-
days according to X. H. Shelby of Tyler
president of the association. More than
4000 teachers will be in the city at that
time. They aloo will discuss plans for
getting more money for the maintenance
of schools and for - better housing fa-
cilities. . - .
' The association will make "the Rice
hotel itj headquarter and all reneral
meetings will be held at the city audi-

Tbe Rice institute will throw open its
doors to the teachers and many of the
schools of Houston are planning to have
visitors' days in their honor.
