day terrorised the village of Eastern
Maaoa county for several hours while
looting banks and other business ea-
tabllshments. They escaped with 17000
In cash. ' mostly obtained from the
Farmers Stat bank.
The bandits arrived In Baston about
a. m. In two automobiles. They cut
' wires and posted guards to patrol the
streets. Citizens who ventured out
were greeted 'with a hall of bullets. .
After blowing off the safe door they
took their time In gathering up the
noney. It was after 6 a. m; when they
called in their sentinels and the autoa
ped from the village.
i The entire town of 460 persons was
rouked by the shouting of the robbers
and firing of revolvers. . 1

bandits at from 10 to 14. While a few
men worked on the bank's safe the
remainder kept close watch on resi-
dent streets. '

he attempted to leave his home.

company today were making efforts to
repair fire damage in order that Beau-
mont would not be in total darkness

Arthur which action was all that kept
the atty from being lightless as far as
electricity was concerned.

attorney who has been In office since
January L has started filing suits to
collect the delinquent taxes dus this
county.
Thirteen suits have been filed and It
is understood that hundreds of others
will follow as soon as ths cases can
be drawn up.
Several hundred thousand dollars of
delinquent taxes are due the county
according to ths tax rolls.

Bee vi lie are blocking up 17000 acres
of land for J. B. Joyce of Wichita.
Kansas who is taking the acre-
age on a drilling contract. Ha will put
a first class rig on the acreage and
drill a hole at least 2500 feet deep If
necessary in search of the liquid gold
or gas In paying quantities. This will
be the first real test in Bee county
but every adjoining county has had
wildcatters at work for months. An-
other test will probably be made north
of the city also as a Dallas man is
here trying to get acreage in that sec-
tion on a drilling contract.
NACOGDOCHES MAN DIES.

NACOGDOCHES Texas. Feb. 20.
News has been received here of the
death at Carlsbad of Jessa C. Parmley
29 a member of one of the most prom-
inent families of this section.
Besides his father and mother Mr.
and Mrs. I. B. Parmley. he leaves
seven brothers. I. D. Hagun Arch
Doc L V. Hubert and Aaron. He
will be burled In the family burying
grounds at Rock Springs nine miles
north of Nacogdoches.
