of NTLT, CABUL and an RA at Col-
lege Inn. But she also never lost the
ideal that activities should improve
and compliment her academic situa-
tion.
"What I've put into my education
and being active, I've gotten out,
sometimes even gotten out more," she
said. Like Crawford, she participated
in more than just Greek and leadership
organizations. Keefe was president of
NTMA in the fall of 1985 and was a
member of Mortar Board Honor Soci-
ety, both of which reflect academic
involvement in her major.
Townsend, Crawford and Keefe all
said that having a busy schedule gave
way to better time management. De-
spite their diverse interests academi-cally they benefitted from being active
and having outlets for academic appli-
cation.
"The keys to everything are attitude
and organization."
Cindy Crawford
The main objective of a college stu-
dent is to graduate with some sort of
degree. When there are so many ac-
tivities, organizations, alternate re-
sponsibilities and personal needs to
distract students from the main objec-
tive, sometimes the ultimate goal can
get lost or simply temporarily hidden.
For some people that are active in
high school, college is expected to bean place to study, have fun and not get
too involved diversified. For Sara Bar-
ber, a 21-year-old senior in marketing,
coming from a small town (South
Lake, Texas), where she had a very
busy high school experience, to a large
campus like NTSU might have been a
humbling experience if she had al-
lowed it to be. "I never thought I'd be
as involved in college," she said.
However, Barber did not lose a step,
joining Zeta Tau Alpha, Sigma Nu
Sweethearts, NT40, SA, NTMA and
the NTSU Songleaders in her four
years at NTSU. Since becoming a sen-
ior, though, her attitude had not
changed, but graduation and earning a
degree had taken more priority.14/Opening
