Hillis Ingram, 90, of Jackson-
ville, was at 10 a.m. Friday at
Autry Funeral Home chapel
with Glen Cogburn and James
Spivey officiating. Burial was
in Jarratt Cemetery.
Mrs. Ingram was bornMarch
7, 1922, in Terrell to Jewel Al-
ice Jones Hillis and Benjamin
Homer Hillis. She died July
2 at the home of her daughter
near Zavalla. Mrs. Ingram
graduated from high school at
the age of 16 and then entered
East Texas Teachers College.
There she met Robert Earl
(Bill) Ingram. They married
in April of 1942, shortly before
he shipped out for World War
II. While Mr. Ingram was

at 2 p.m. Thursday at Autry

Darin Wood officiating. Burial
was in Vinson Cemetery. Mrs.
Moore died July 2 in Tyler. She
was born Sept. 26,1945, in Ver-
non. Mrs. Moore was a member
of Central Baptist Church in
Jacksonville and served as
Jacksonville Municipal Court
clerk for 26 years,. She was pre-
ceded in death by her parents,
Zachary Hosmer Childress and
Nonness Jo Mote Childress.
overseas, she served as assis-
tant postmistress at Forney
and taught in various country
schools. She later completed
her masters work at Stephen F.
Austin State Teachers College.
The Ingrams moved to Jack-
sonville in 1949 and she taught
at New Hope and Jacksonville
schools for more than 35 years.
She moved to the Zavalla area
in 2009 after the death of her
husband.
Mrs. Ingram is probably best
known as the bookkeeper for
the LaPoyner Flyers basketball
teams her husband coached in
the late ‘60s and ‘70s.
Survivors are her daughter
and son-in-law, Barbara and
Mike Ford of Forney; grand-

She was a lifelong member
of the Church of Christ. She
was preceded in death by her
husband; her parents; and a
brother, B.H. Hillis Jr. of Fort
Worth.

Stringfield and Jerry Sowell.

Mrs. Mai-

She was born Dec. 23, 1928, in

homemaker and a member of
the Bilingual Worship Center
in Jacksonville.
She was preceded in death
by her husband, Ramon Mal-
donado; and two sons, Ramiro
Maldonado and Frank Mal-
donado. Survivors include two
sons, Robert Maldonado of
Troup and Raymond Maldona-
do of Mesquite; four daughters,
Mickie Ruiz, Neli Chandler,
Anita Villanueva and Alice
Silva, all of Jacksonville; nu-

was at 2 p.m. Friday at Autry
Funeral Home chapel with the

Mrs. Hooton died July 2 in
Jacksonville. She was born
March 26, 1924, in Harrison
County. She was a member of
Mixon First Baptist Church, a
homemaker and caregiver.
She was preceded in death by

Athens was held at 2 p.m. July
3 at the Athens First United

Rev. Middleton died June 29
in Athens. He was born Nov.
2, 1937, in Houston to Frank
and Vera Harrelson Middleton.
He was the youngest of three
boys. Bill and Hayne preceded
him in death. Mr. Middleton
graduated from San Jacinto
High School in Houston and
Blinn Junior College. He at-
tended Sam Houston State
University and graduate d from
Southwestern Graduate School
her husband, Edward Dewey
Hooton; two sons, James and
John Hooton; her parents,
Albert and Mattie Sachtleben;
grandson, Bernie Hooton; sis-
ter, Sybil Grubbs; and sister-in-
law, Mickie Sachtleben.

Kathy Winkelmann July 11,
1959, in Brenham.
He was in banking 33 years
and entered the ministry in
1992. He served as pastor of
Cove Springs United Method-
ist Church and Mount Selman
United Methodist Church. He
served as president of the Ath-
ens Optimist Club, Henderson
County YMCA and Henderson
County Cancer Society.
He served a two-year term
on the Athens City Council
and served on the boards of
Keep Athens Beautiful, Athens
Small Business Development
and Athens Little Theatre.
The Middleton family resided
in Jacksonville for a number of
English ofHuntington; brother,
Curtis Sachtleben of Shreve-
port, La.; sister and brother-
in-law, Faye and Bob Renfro
of Smithland; special friend,
Ethel Terry of Jacksonville;
seven grandchildren; six great-
grandchildren; several nieces
and nephews. Pallbearers were
Michael Bolton, Todd Travis,
Paul Senesac, Russell Hooton
and Lewis Zieters. Memorials
maybe made to Hospice of East
Texas in Tyler.

He is survived by his wife

City. Dr. Cowart died
July 3 in F airfax, Va.
He was born Jan. 25, 1929, in
Locker, San Saba County, to
Edgar T. and Clara Mae Fry
Cowart. His family moved to
Dallas in 1932 and to Rusk
during his sophomore year
in high school, where he met
Helen Holcomb. They married
Aug. 29, 1948. He graduated
from SFA in 1949. He was
accepted to Baylor College of
Medicine in 1949 and com-
pleted medical school in 1953.
He served in the U.S. Army
Medical Corp. from 1954-56.
In 1957, he moved to Bay City
to start his medical practice
with classmate Joe N. Cannon,
MD. He continued his practice
of family medicine there for
50 years until his retirement
in 2007. He gained fellowship
in the American Academy of
Disability Evaluating Physi-
cians. He was a member of
The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-Day Saints and served
in many ward and stake call-
ings and offices as elder, stake
seventy, high priest and stake
patriarch.
He was preceded in death by
his parents; his sibhngs, Lewis
Jackson Cowart, Minnie Lee
Cowart, Robert Wilham Cow-
art, Walter Harold Cowart and
Vera Mae Cowart Pinson; and
his son, James E. (Jed) Cowart,
Jr. and daughter-in-law, JoAnn
Haws Cowart. Survivors are
his wife of 63 years, Helen H.
Cowart; two sons and daugh-
ters-in-law, Robert Walter II
and Sandy Cowart and John
