Pretty Boy Dead
Joseph Hansen
Scorned by his family, de eatea by
society, Steve was at a major cross-
roads in his life. Confused and friend-
less, he turned to pretty boy Coy
| Randol for love and support. But then
Coy was found brutally murdered
and there was only one person sus-
pected by the police: Steve.
An excellent craftsman, a compelling
writer, Hansen has a real gift for
storytelling—for character, for scene,
for pace independent of violence.”
— The New Yorker
'Take it for granted that Joseph
Hansen will turn out a whodunnit
sharply observed, atmospheric,
crackling with elliptical dialog

A Celebration of
Leathersexuality
Geoff Mains ✓
Photos by Robert Pruzan
This book draws on various dis-
ciplines to examine the leather com-
munity: its structures, its interactions
and its attitudes. Sexual practices
such as pain-pleasure and fisting are
examined in light of recent experi-
ments with nervous response, opioids
and reward centers. The conclusions
reached.by this pioneering book are
not only ground-breaking" and
startling” but present "an important
new understanding of the human
condition.” (Advocate)

The Great American
Gay Porno Novel
Mike Shearer
Irresistibly beautiful. Mark Edwards
has never had trouble finding men to
follow him to men's rooms, parking
lots, alleys. None of them ever sus-

posterity the sounds, smells and ten-
sions of the fucks they enjoyed. This
fast moving novel follows the sexual
adventures of several all American
boys.
"Erotica gets put on the bookshelf
with James Fcnimore Cooper and
Booth Tarkington. Pornography gets
hidden under the bed with forgotten
jock straps and stiff Kleenexes. I pre-
fer the latter.”—Mark Edwards

Dear Howie:
Sometimes I really feel lost. I feel like my
W life has no real meaning. If 1 were in a
relationship I’d at least have a lover to
add to my life, or if 1 had children, I
certainly could dedicate my life to them.
Instead, 1 feel so lonely, and worthless.
The phrase, “I was born to die.” really
hits home with me. My only hope is that
when I die, 1 do so in my sleep. Until
then, I guess I’ll live an empty meaning-
less life. There’s got to be more.
There are times when I see others with so
much going for them. It makes me angry,
jealous, insecure and depressed. At the
same time though, 1 feel like, if others
can feel worthwhile, so can I.
How can 1 beat this feeling? I’m not
going to do anything drastic, like suicide,
although it has crossed my mind. I just
want to have some meaning and direc-
tion. 1 feel like I’ve already wasted 23
years of my life.
Bobby
Dear Bobby,
/ understand how you are feeling. There
are times in all of our lives when we
question the purpose of our existence, h
is my belief that this purpose varies for
each of us. This belief can he summed up
in a book entitled Caring.
“No one else can give me the meaning
of my life; it is something I alone can

make. The meaning is not something
predetermined which simply unfolds; I
help both to create and to discover it,
and this is a continuing process, not a
once-and-for-all. ”
Dedication to a family, children, or a
relationship may help fulfill one’s life but
this will not supply meaning.

Dear Howie,
A good friend of mine is having a drink-
ing problem which is really beginning to
affect me. First of all, it was the phone
calls at all hours of the day and night.
Then 1 had to bail him out for a D. W.I.
Last month, I had to loan him rent
money because he was behind and
almost lost his apartment. What else can
1 do? I really care for him and hate to see
him suffer. Everytime he gets in a jam he
promises to stop drinking, but that only
