rimental play about Gauguin’s secret life premieres
Paul Gauguin is best known for his early, colorful paintings of half-naked
Tahitian women and his friendship with Vincent van Gogh. In the play “Gauguin’s
Paradise,” local playwright and theater artist Fred Curchack suggests that it may be
this second relationship that informs an understanding of the artist best. Adapting his
one-man show “Gauguin’s Shadow” for a student cast at U.T. Dallas, Curchack
explores the latent homosexuality of the master Post-Impressionist in a multimedia
performance that includes puppets, masks and video presentations.

announced two years ago that he is bisexual, helping open up Argentina as a popular
gay travel destination. But you don’t have to go to South America to see his fiery
troupe, Ballet Argentino, perform its magic. Embracing dance styles as diverse as clas-
sical ballet and passionate tango, the performance will include the premiere of a new
work, “The Man in the Red Tie,” that explores the nature of obsession through inno-

Elizabeth Gustwick recently celebrated their 17th anniversary together and are still
going strong. They want more people, especially younger people both gay and
straight, to know that. On Wednesday, they will sit down for an hour-long rap session
called “In It for the Long Haul,” in which they will explain how they have made their
relationship work. It will be an informal discussion on the campus of the University
of North Texas including a question and answer period. Bring a lunch and learn
