flow JJditors of One Woman s Pa-
per Came to Grief
Some western women rrlnfetl to
start a woman suffrage paper a few
years ago with the aim of scatter-
ing the seeds of woman suffrage
loont the country where it was
deeded
They bonghE a plant ordering
from a catalogue of of printers sup-
plies ami while they widnt know
< msfrom galleys they pnt a carpet
on thopriiifcftrg office lloor and had
a stove with nickel trimmings and
a brass fire shovel and a rerolrrng
rtffice chair and a desk with a lot of
pigeonholes and a wastepaper
basket with a ribbon bow on it and
ri patent rocker a picture of Susan
13 Anthony on the Walland a prin-
ter topafcthi type together
It was rather a d 2y homelike
little place and even conservative
women who didn t approve of the
paper came sometimes to visit and
t > it in the patent rocker
One day one of the editors wrote
an editorial in vbich she aired the
tf meswom epigram that there is
a slumbering hog iu every uiau s
bosom
Thiswhile not esnetly esthetic
was regarded as a bullet proof bit
uf logic with which to adorn a
woman suffrage editorial but the
lresthud plans of mice and men
gang aft aglee and as the printer
was not a suffragist he pioceeded
tb put the hog in the woman s
bosom and when the paper came
out aud announced that there is a
clambering hog in evory woman s
Hosom those women called an edi-
torial conclave arid each woman
tbre her1 own hair
The greatest man on a womans
newspaper is the printer He edits
tfie matter conuta up the feet in
the poetry and remodels to suit his
poetical brain and he continually
rlins out of = interrogation narks
Would the women while editing
a paper have a friend at court
Then let them
