LODGE NO. 146, GALVESTON
Dear Brothers and Sisters:
The next regular meeting will be
held the second Sunday in Apríl, be-
cause of Easter Sunday being the first
Sunday. The monthly meeting will be
held at the Eagles Halí 1906 Post Of-
fice St,, Galveston, Texas. Time is 2
p.m. Sunday, April 13.
I know that a. lot of members were
wondering if the lodge will ever get
started on solné fund raising events
or not. Well, to be truthful, it takés
time and planning in advance. We did
come up with a dáte to háve a dance
at Eagles Halí Saturday, April 19.
Music will be by the Wilbur Hein-
sohn seven-piece orchestra, playing
old-time and modem music. Tliis band
will make its first appearance in Gal-
veston. Members and friends, the in-
struments in the orchestra are as fol-
lows: bass horn, two saxophones, two
trumpets, piano, and drums,
The following were present at our
last meeting: Pres. Frank I-L Beran,
Vice Pres. R. E. Conway, Secy. Evelyn
Mattes. Our Financial Secy. was dut of
town slaving with her sister who had
an operation and was in the hospital.
Treasurer, Mrs. Porttaci had to he dut
of town. Stysheine Mattes,' Eugene
Sefcik, Alvin Sefcik, Joseph Hlozek,
Evelyn Sefcik, Carman Odinot, Odie
Odinot, Edna Urbanic, Mrs. E. J. Whit-
ner, E. J. Whitner, Mrs. Mollie Macík,
Yvonne Beran, Mr. Louis Maeik and
Georgia Beran. Our guest was Carolyn
Moody. Thanks to all of you for eoming
in all of that bad weather we had;
rain all aftemoon. I know it was hard
to make it. The flu had a lot of our
members in bed, and this we can not
control, so leťs wish all of the siek
a speedy recovery so they can be at dur
dance on April 19.
The new bookkeeper for our lodge
and also our reportér is Sis. Edna Ur-
banic. Memoriál Fund chairman is
Sister Evelyn Mattes; flag bearers are
Eugene Sefcik and Joseph Hlozek. The
Office of the youth leader is still open,
since there was no volunteer for this
Office, as of this dáte.
I would request all of the organizers
of our lodge to impress upon their new
members the importance of attending
the next meeting and be initiated. This
will make them feel like they are a
part of the lodge. We would like to
háve an initiation April 13, so bring all
your candidátes to the meeting.
Members and friends, we are invit-
ing you to our dance Saturday night,
i
April 19. We hope to show all of you a
nice time so if you are planning to go
any plače this is a nice plače to come.
The halí is centrally heated and air-
conditioned with plenty of parking
space. Leťs a!l say a little prayer , sc
the weather would be nice.

will háve time to write this dáte on
your ealendar - April 19, Saturday
night. The time and all other inforraa-

A last-mmute reminder about oui*
Czech play. which is to be given on the
30t.ii of March at 2 p.m. There will be
a smáli program preccding the play,
with youngsters participating and Mr.
Vodehnal accompanying them on the
piano.
The actors know their parts quite
well already and Anna Švestka, oiu*
vory good and able prompter will be
keeping them on their toes and also
keeping the play moving at a brisk
páce.
We missed Mrs. Janda, who plays
the part of a greedy landlady, at our
last rehearsal. She was ill with a cold,
but is much better now — and Tim
Kostom was missed, too. He was at
Cápe Kennedy watching the hlast-off
of the Apollo 9. I ani sorry to say that
Mr. Urban, our newly-elected director,
will be unable to be with us due to im-
forseen circumstanc.es, and our as-
sistant director, Karel Sicner. is re-
placing him.
We hope to sec many out-of-towners
on that 30th day of March, because we
would like — abov.e anything else —■ a
packed house.
Our stage will be enhanced by lovely
furniture and drápeš furnished
through the courtesy of the Hilsher
Home Supply Co. Mr. Alfred Hilsher,
through all these many years, has al-
ways been so very nice to let us háve
whatever furniture was needed for our
stag.e.
Ladies. you won’t háve to cook on
that day either, as. we will háve a de-
licious dinner awaiting you — so come
ono, come all, we will be looking for-
ward to having you with us.
Fraternally,
